Another little thought experiment. Say you're plane crashed in the amazon rain forest, One of the most dangerous places on the planet, where your chances of survival alone is less than 10 %. You do not have a radio, nor do you have a phone, nor do you have internet access. You're injured, broken arm, dislocated shoulder, but your legs are fine. You manage to follow a river for a while to a camp, There is a single male there, camping. Will you ask him for help? Or will you die due to exposure and your injuries?

Ugh another one of these kinds of questions? These are really getting old on this site and on social media in general.
The fact is, yes, some men are bad. 1 in every 6 women have been the victim of an attempted or completed rape which is a shockingly high number and doesn't paint men in a positive light. That doesn't even include sexual assault cases. So I get why some who have been victims will choose to avoid the man in whatever scenario is being presented (bear, hurt in the wilderness, whatever).
That being said, although I'd be at risk either way, I'd still choose the chance of staying alive and ask for help when my alternative is supposedly sure fire death. If he is someone who intends to harm me, I'll do my damndest to fight him off with one arm if I have to.
You're also a rational thinking person. Though that one in six Stat is off, at least according to fbi stats. It's closer to one in 20. The Stat you're quoting was based on a Study done at a college and was not limited to rape, but was also expanded to include sexual harassment and unwanted sexual contact, and regret after the fact. The creators of the study them selves have come out and Said the study was deeply flawed and should not be used.
On that same token 1 in 20 is still a shitty unacceptable Stat.
Mine come from RAINN, which may be quoting that study, I'm not sure. The FBI is going to show reported rapes which rapes go criminally under reported in my opinion. I'm willing to bet the number is somewhere in the middle, but no matter if it is 1 in 6 or 1 in 20, those numbers suck.
So I agree it is totally unacceptable, and we should be doing more to hold people accountable. Stop letting rapists off with light sentences. Stop questioning victims of what they did to "deserve it" or just victim blaming in general. Yes false accusations occur and each crime should be investigated, but some people just immediately start in on the victim.
Nah I support the death penalty for rapists, and anyone who does anything sexual with a child.
I'm usually against the death penalty, but I can make an exception for those who harm a child for sure.
I'm not, I'm a child of sexual abuse. If I had the choice between death and going through that again, I'd choose death. It was at the hands of my mother and father both.
Rape is disgusting and evil. It takes something from you that you can never get back. Especially when your body betrays you.
I'm so very sorry you experienced that.
The "male" turns out to be a bear rather than a human. Everyone is satisfied now.
Lol right
