What do you think about the german government forbidding german police to display a german flag?

I am not kidding. during the European Soccer League, the German police will not be allowed to display any Germany flags. Reason given by the government: the police is supposed to be neutral and the german flag is not neutral.
Instead the government suggested they display pride flags, cause the pride flag stands for inclusion and is neutral according to our government.

it's like people are so aware about fascism when it comes to racism. but other than that, they wouldn't see fascism if it punched them in the face.

Germany has gone mad. A politician was convicted for hate speech for quoting government statistics on migrant rape and a police officer got stabbed after trying to arrest a guy who was retraining a violent Muslim knife man who had stabbed some folks.

you see the problem with our party the AFD is that it is litterally the only strongly right leaning party that is currently in pairlament. so they are litterally the only option that right wing extremists can vote for if they want a chance of having their interest represented in the government. and they're constantly taking these right wing extremists as a reason to try and cancel the entire party. which is not wrong 100% of the time. because let's take the famous case of Björn Höcke who used illegal Historical Nazi language during his run for office. He had a public conversation with Elon Musk about it on twitter where he made it seem like he's being silenced cause he's on the right. but he was silenced cause he was using very clear national socialist language that is illegal to use here in germany. which you could actually say is violating free speech but that's just part of our national history. he kept claiming he was unaware of his words being nazi words but he's a history professor by trade so he doesn't get to claim this level of innocence.

the thing is that "the legit right wing politics" is always lumped in with the nazis so our government has been drifting further and further to the left for decades. and the only party that is right is infiltrated by actual nazis. so really what is a conservative person in germany supposed to vote? there's no option.

I don't know what the percentage of the party is actual nazis but media makes it seem it's 100% which can't be right. you also gotta understand that our state media is supposed to be "independend" of the government. but you have litteral husbands and wives of government officials sitting in the leading positions of these media.

You know, I can see where there might be confusion on this point, so let me clarify something: the United States doesn't have a copyright on the idea of "free speech". Other countries are free to take the idea for themselves. Yes, there WOULD be raving loonballs screaming that it was "cultural appropriation"- they're part of the price of free speech- but they'll be screaming that anyway, and you eventually learn to tune them out.

From an American perspective, it seems like these days Germany is a running contest with Australia over who can become more authoritarian in the name of "liberalism". I suppose the appropriate response would be to display a Martian flag with "All Earthlings will be equally crushed beneath our tentacled heels" written on it, but that would probably be a problem, too.

That's beyond pathetic. A national flag is inclusive, and all guests know where they are anyway. It used to be that supporting the national team was one of few situations you could use the German flag.

A "pride" flag is anything but inclusive, and a bad choice.
