Don't you know about Opportunity Zones? Opportunity Zones are an economic development tool that allows people to invest in distressed areas in the United States. Their purpose is to spur economic growth and job creation in low-income communities while providing tax benefits to investors.

Opportunity Zone legislation was first introduced in 2016 but was buried and failed to pass under the Obama administration. It was then reintroduced in 2017 as the Investing in Opportunity Act. The bill was championed by Senators Tim Scott (R-SC) and Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Representatives Pat Tiberi (R-OH) and Ron Kind (D-WI). Most of the provisions contained within the Investing in Opportunity Act were eventually enacted as part of the 2017 Tax Cuts & Jobs Act, which was signed into law by President Donald Trump on December 22, 2017.

Opportunity Zones are the biggest economic development program in U. S. history. As of 2022 Opportunity Zone investments have already exceeded $100 billion. There are currently projects all over the nation in development to bring job opportunities to low income Americans and that's thanks to the leadership of Donald Trump. You have entire cities springing out of farm and forest land in the middle of nowhere bringing retail and service jobs for low income workers, construction jobs, warehouse jobs, industrial jobs, so on and so forth. There are thousands of examples all over the nation. Since Trump took action, many projects got underway. It takes time to put in all the infrastructure, but a lot is underway. One example would be the North Florida Mega Industrial Park. This all plays into Trumps plan to bring Industry back to America again. In his first term he set the ground work to get the infrastructure in place. In his second term tariffs on foreign products and tax incentives on local manufacturing will incentive companies to employ American works in American factories. You just have to open up your eyes and look around some time.

Another example would be the Hawthorn Industrial Park which is adjacent to Black town in Gainesville, FL. On the West of of Gainesville Progress Park was built for Biotech jobs, but to cater to the uneducated lower income Americans on the other end of town the Hawthorn Industrial Park is being built.

These are just two examples. If you want to find opportunity zones in your area and investigate ongoing projects check the map here:

So what you're saying is that "Opportunity Zones" are areas where it has been deemed the locals aren't being financially exploited as much as they could be.

@SotiCoto Look at it however you want to look at it. If you're struggling because you don't have a job or maybe just a part time or minimum wage job and then all the sudden you get a full time gig that is above minimum wage, you are economically going to be doing better. It sounds to me like you personally just don't want a job. You want to live off of other people's work. You think you are some sort of slave master, and people need to get out in the field and pick that cotton for you. If you want to eat, you got to work. It's the nature of the world. You can start your own business and work, or you can work for someone else's business. Either way, investment in low income areas brings opportunity for both types of people because it brings cash flow into the community.

@patois : I have a job. Have had the same job for almost 20 years. It isn't the minimum wage kind that would show up in these "opportunity zones", but it still isn't enough to free me from the rental trap. But by all means keep pretending you know me and making a fool of yourself in the process.

@SotiCoto You're definitely not going to make it on 12 views per video on youtube I'll tell you that... Minimum wage in Florida would bring you $22K a year for a standard work week. You’re not even renting at that income without a roommate. A forklift operator for example in a warehouse would earn roughly $35K a year. In Lake City, FL where the North Florida Mega Industrial Park is being built you can buy low end homes for roughly $100K-$150K which you could qualify for at $35K a year and if you were married with another person earning a similar income, you could afford a nicer home to start a family. So obviously what is being done in North Florida would help people that can't rent their own place at the moment to be able to afford a low end home and potentially have a family. With new streams of income, more money circulates in the community creating more opportunity for business growth.

@patois : Cute ideals. Shame it doesn't work that way in practice though. In practice people compete over even the least of jobs. Those who get it end up being paid less than they were promised, and charged more in living expenses because to a capitalist, someone barely getting by is someone with extra money to take back.
Nobody needs "business growth". They need to be freed from capitalism. They need to be able to live by working for themselves... not slaving away for some corporation that gives less than it takes.

@SotiCoto Like I said, you don't want to work, you want to live off of other people's work. You think you're a slave master and everyone needs to get in that field boy and pick that cotton. You keep proving it over and over again. You're a low life want to be slave driver.

More than Biden, not that it's saying much. Proof is in comparison of their policies while in office. Unlike most elections, we actually have four years of reference for both candidates, so idiotic, projective accusations don't really work- like the imbecile claiming he mistreats his wife and kids.

If you ever see a politician claim to be focusing their campaign "on the little guy" or something to that effect, they're lying and can be dismissed outright. We are also about at the point where the same can be said for the "middle class" talking points. In fact, it's almost always running interference for the fact they're coddling the ultra-wealthy, which has been the case for the Democratic party broadly, and the Republican party establishment and fundraisers for decades.

Everyone had aid during the pandemic. Whereas in CA Newsom only gave gasoline aid to people who filed a tax return. Which essentially cut off everyone who "doesn't make enough money to pay taxes". All the people, veterans, elderly and disabled who needed that aid most and still pay the same for gas as everyone else. Hearing that just pissed me off. All for votes.
Would trump have pulled the same move? Not sure. Does he care about low income people? Does any politician? They are trying to survive in the game themselves. They are all as bad as one another. Less caring is a sign of these times.

I never heard this before. Was the criteria to qualify for benefits filing the tax form or actually paying a tax liability? When I was first married I used to file a tax return every year buy never actually had to pay taxes because I was considered low income.

No politician left or right cares about those on low income. They ALL believe they shut stfu and obey their masters. Politicians love a big pool of poor people because it provides cheap labour for companies and the fear factor to keep employees in check, go as you're told or end up like this.

He got better results by reducing global wage competition via immigration and bad trade deals.

Joe Biden made it worse by importing 11 million almost entirely similarly low skilled immigrates to come for the same wages, food, services, and housing. This on top of inflationary spending unnecessarily all of which significantly lowered the standard of living of low income Americans.

Even Joe Biden's infrastructure bill as poorly planned as it was, was also inflationary and poorly timed competing for the same labor and resources needed to address our housing shortages. Just making those houses even more expensive.

Yes. Taxes were lower for low income people with Trump, gas, food, and clothing prices were much lower with Trump. When subsidies were given to farmers during the pandemic they had to package boxes of food to give out to people for free with Trump.

I'm pretty sure that's not true. And once again, without the pandemic it would never have happened and would have been called socialism by the right.

I do recall farmers opening up their fields for people to come and fetch food for free because they couldn't get workers to harvest.

President Trump enacted more policies that helped low-income Americans than any president in modern times at least.

In fact, during his presidency, low income Americans had a bigger percentage increase in their wages and income than high income Americans. That was the first time that happened in generations.

I'll be voting for Trump and the obvious answer to this question is no. He doesn't care in the slightest. Here's the thing though, neither does Biden...

Neither did Obama or Bush. These people only care about their lobbyists, their own status and power. That's it. We elect presidents from a modern aristocracy formed by wealth and or getting a foothold into a political position and taking full advantage of it financially

No, but not many do. Dems make some, some, moves to help them.

It’s actually economically sound to target poverty in am economy. Lift all boats…etc.
