Trump showed up for a debate and gave what was a pretty middling performance by his standards, but was clearly prepared. Joe was gone. Even when Joe first walked out he looked like a corpse. The moderators attempted to throw him bones but seemed to basically give up after the first half or so, and absolutely zero people who watched that debate think that he had a good night. The "Joe had a cold" excuse may explain his raspier than usual voice, but it doesn't give him a pass on his mouth-open, vacant and lost expression he had all night, literally freezing up on the second question he received, and regularly drifting off topic into garbled sentences, at least at one point so badly that the moderators cut him off and went to Trump with a new question. Afterwards, Joe couldn't even get off the stage on his own, and his wife gave the presser.
It seems that this was deliberately set up to publicly humiliate Joe enough to convince him to step down as the Democratic candidate (behind closed doors) so that a replacement can be announced at the DNC later this year. This was a suspicion for a while due to the unusual circumstances of holding a presidential debate before both parties have held their conventions. Furthermore, basically every leftwing media outlet had this narrative ready to go even before the show was over, which means someone sent out the marching orders. I want to say it was the New York Times who even published an article before the debate was over.
Funny how never once did you mention all the lies Trump made during his responses. I’m surprised no one, including Joe Biden, called him out on it. Instead, they ignored his answers and are now contemplating Biden should step down. Why in the world aren’t they asking the convicted felon to step down? Why doesn’t someone else run in hismm be place?
Neither really.
For Trump, it's about ego (and staying out of prison because if he becomes president he can drop the prosecution against him). This is one reason why Trump pretty much was just a lie machine on stage. "There were so many lies, it broke the fact checking machine.", journalist/pundit John King.
However, Trump looked good and he wasn't his normal crazy self. President Biden, on the other hand, looks pretty pathetic.
Unless there is another debate soon and President Biden gets his shit together, the Democrats will likely ask him to drop out of the race and replace him. I think the best person to replace President Biden by the Democratic ticket would be Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer.
you think mr. clinton avoided court by being president. that is such shallow bs to write , even false. speaking of "fact checking," you abc failed the fact check.
@strateguy632 You don't realize that, if there are FEDERAL CHARGES, then PRESIDENT Trump, as head of the Executive Branch and thus the Justice Department, could then quash the DOJ's cases against him.
I didn't need to fact check the basics.
As for state courts, that's different, but, who knows what the SCOTUS will say? I am just hoping Judge NY Juan Merchan sentences Trump to 4 years on July 11 with sentence to be carried out immediately.
I didn’t see the debate, but I saw clips and read about it. It seems Biden was sick with a cold and didn’t do a good enough job—- seemingly was too soft spoken and lost his train of thought on some questions, but he answered all questions seriously and honestly.
Trump I read, lied his way through the debate, about everything. Created untruths about everything he was asked, and a fact checker listed everything he lied about which were about 10 things he mentioned. I’m not surprised because that’s what he did as president.
@Friendlybro79 Thank you. I didn't expect Trump to be any different than what he has always been. But I felt bad for Biden in the moments he couldn't talk well. However, I've seen recent past speeches of his that show him as sharp minded and he had a stronger voice, so I'm attributing his moments to just not feeling well. They say he had a cold--but it might have been a little more serious. Still all in all- you are so right--I'd never vote for a man/convicted felon who has done all he has, especially rape, and is immature in his actions.
Yeah he wasn't feeling well and it's also a part of aging. He's 81 and even though trump was easy to understand, most of what he said was based in truth, lacked showcasing any policies he might have, and he isn't far behind. There's hours of footage of him fumbling words and sounding awful too. He won't be in any better shape in 4 years either.
@Friendlybro79 Exactly. In my view he is already there because of the things he says. He doesn't finish thoughts because he adds so many words in between, that I think he forgets what he was saying. Many things are wrong, false, and the speech is just not normal. I have heard him slur his speech in the past, and I can't follow what he is saying, and honestly I'd rather not because he makes no sense.
Trump reiterated several times the debate was just a waste of time.

A buddy of mine who was 17 was sleeping with a female teacher in school who was about 25 and was kinda pretty, blonde, short and starting to put on some beef around the back. Anyway they were technically in a secret relationship and one day she found out that he was cheating on her with a girl who played flute in the band, a Mexican girl and had slept with a 30 year old married woman that worked as a cleaner. She lost her shit in class at him, she'd hacked his book and gone through his messages and it all came out. The school covered it up and she got a job at community college. He was on the basketball and football teams, he continued to see her and she had his baby but she eventually moved on.
I didn't watch the whole thing. But what I saw was anything but substantive. The host's questions were unimportant and the debate, itself, was just finger pointing and name calling. Except Biden's dementia made him seem punch drunk as he regurgitated rehearsed attacks on Trump's character. Then he had to be physically guided down the stairs by his wife.
There was no debate. It was a shit show of lies by both men, but virtually every word of Trump's was a lie. The clear result is that NEITHER of these bozo's should be President. However, since Trump is the puppet boy for Project 2025 ("I have no idea what that is", as he shakes hands with the author) and that's a manifesto for a fascist dictatorship disguised as a Democracy, I'll take a diminished Joe. But really, they're both highly unqualified at this point.
I haven't watched TV in such a long time I would have to say it was nothing but big mouth men with big fat egos. that did nothing but stand up there and lie to get a vote.. . And I bet you when it was all done said they both still look like fools
No debate is necessary at all. We already have an entire or almost entire term to decide from. One senile old man and one egomaniacal pathological liar going back and forth served no real purpose for anyone.
i didn't see that i guess you projected yourself on trump?
Whether he is old or not and only by 2 years now, I’d rather vote for Joe Biden than that pathological liar. If Biden were a corpse, I’d still vote for him.
As long as he knows what’s right for the country and IS for the country and not for himself, like his opponent is, Biden is the better choice.
it was just a blatant display of the decrepit state of the so called "democracy". we get to be represented by either a convicted fraud or a senile dementia case who's also highly corrupt.
but these pre election debates have alwas been a contest for who can use the most words to say the least.
I wouldn't call it a war of ego's, I also wouldn't call it a substantive debate. It was more a war of cognitive ability.
I can't bring myself to watch it. The US is very important to the world and... oh you know the rest.
There was no substantive debate at all. What happened is that Trump would lie constantly and Biden would clumsily try to refute his lies a bit.
What did Trump lie about?
I think the debate had substance but there were moments of ego where they argued who golfed better.
I didn't bother to watch those two old wind bags make fools of themselves
Were you listening? Several issues were addressed from each party
It was substantive. It showed the world who needs to be in a retirement community
The debate did exactly what it needed to do, show how deteriorated Biden is.
Biden had substance, trump had lies
A genuine debate would have had an audience.
Biden? Ego? He can't even spell it.
The left is dumping Biden.
It felt mediocre on both of their behalf.
