Think about it like this- the President, as Commander-in-Chief, has the right to order military action that will get members of opposing militaries or members of terror groups (or lone terrorists for that matter) killed. Does any civilian have the legal right to do that?
Presidential immunity is less to do with Trump but the realisation that if a precedent for convicting & jailing ex & current presidents then Biden, Obama, Bush Jr & Clinton could all find themselves getting the same treatment. He'll even democrat old warhorses like Pelosi, Warren, waters and hillary might find themselves at risk.
Biden on his last day will pardon hunter for all crimes.

Biden and Obama should both be in prison for what they did to Ukraine. They are the real Criminals that cause a real insurrection where so many died, caused a civil war and are still dying today because of their meddling and blackmail in Ukraine

The reactions to SCOTUS's immunity decision fall broadly into two category:
1. People who have actually read the decision, and realize that SCOTUS affirmed immunity for official acts, ordering the lower courts to determine if any of Trump's accused actions weren't official.
2. People who are making things up, so they can be angry about the things they made up.
No. The SCOTUS extended immunity to much more than that, especially since now the president can always claim it was an official action by default without having to defend that statement and it is up to the prosecution to prove that it was not in fact an official act or the case is dropped on immunity.
Doing things, like drone bombing Americans is apparently official business. Rounding up Japanese Americans and putting them in internment camps is apparently official business. Lying to the UN to justify an invasion of another country is apparently official business.
Joe Biden has kind of already gone that that route to the limits of his power with the lawfair persecution of his political enemies.
SCOTUS does not give the president the power to ignore the laws merely immunity for his legitimate use of them. A president cannot legitimately order the assassination of anyone, only their arresting and charging, which is what Joe Biden has done.
Biden would be shielded from regular prosecution until he went through a impeachment trial. He would almost be certainly impeached and the legislative branch would be a pretty hard check for him.
Besides if the president acts up too much and nobody does anything about it the CIA will assassinate them like they did JFK. The deep state does not like their operations disturbed.
