Monoclonal antibodies are a proven, very effective treatment for covid-19. This is how you know it's not about saving lives and preventing deaths

If every state had had the same rate of deaths as the ones that stopped mask mandates, there would have been 160,000 more deaths so far. Those states (Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, & Utah) have killed roughly 80,000 Americans unnecessarily.

I can't see the article from Europe, but is Florida getting more or less than their proportion of the population (6.4%)? Does anyone think they should be entitled to more than 6.4% of the treatment?

There's a limited supply (and it doesn't work well against omicron). Should Florida get more per person than other states? Even states with mostly Delta cases, which can be treated with it?

There's an unlimited supply of these shots, apparently. If a leader of a country truly wanted to save lives they'd throw every available resource into keeping people alive.

And sure, it's not effective against Omicron; we have nyquil for that variant.

Yes, vaccines are easier and cheaper to produce, so there's a practically unlimited supply of them. And people are being hospitalised and dying from the omicron variant, too. Mostly, of course, unvaccinated people.

Like you completely ignored the minor point of the 80,000 Americans dead from Republican stupidity?

Of course it is a valid rebuttal. If monoclonal antibody treatments take more resources to produce, they're going to scarcer. It also takes an hour on an IV to administer one, and it doesn't teach your immune system to fight the disease. They don't help with herd immunity at all.

Vaccines take a minute to administer and do stimulate the immune system.

Cue you saying "if it's not perfect, it's not worth it", or something equally dumb.

@goaded. This government wastes billions a day. So no, you can’t claim because something is “more expensive” it’s not reasonable to do.

Again, if it’s about health - you throw every available resource at keeping people healthy. If it’s about control, then it’s good policy to restrict access to some treatments over others.

You're going to keep harping on about expense and ignoring that it's harder to produce, and does nothing to help to manage the pandemic, as well as costing more in the short term, aren't you? Not to mention the 80,000 American lives lost because of states like yours choosing to force localities not to follow reasonable precautions against the pandemic.

You'll ignore the fact that you were screaming that people shouldn't get vaccinated because they didn't work as well against Delta, and are now screaming for Regeneron, although it doesn't work against Omicron.

There's still sotrovimab, which does actually work.

"The treatment doesn't confer immunity, but recovering from covid does, dipshit. "
Once more, so you can get your head around it:

      1. Recovering naturally from covid confers immunity
      2. Being treated with monoclonal antibodies bypasses that build-up of immunity*
      3. Recovering naturally includes the risk of not recovering (dying), or having long-term health problems.

*2 would be why Trump was vaccinated and boosted after treatment.

You get fewer deaths by vaccinating people. (And wearing masks.)

The closest thing from either of your links is: "unlike with other variants, vaccinated people infected with Delta can transmit the virus". Neither says "as much".

Not that you're changing the subject or making things up, yet again, or anything. (Just to be clear, the CDC didn't say what you said they did, did they.)

FFP2/N95 > Medical mask > Cloth mask > nothing. Known forever. When and where masks are required in Germany, the first two have been the required types since something like mid-2020.

To recap: the CDC didn't say what you said they did about infectiousness of vaccinated people, and everyone has always known that better masks provide better protection, but almost any mask is better than nothing. Also, 25% higher death rate since June 2020 in Florida than in states that didn't stop local governments and schools from protecting the people they serve: why? And Omicron is way more infectious than previous variants (just 10 days to double new cases across the whole US).

Feel free to explain the 500 extra deaths per million in states that disallowed mask mandates.

So, to sum up: the CDC didn't say what you said they did about infectiousness of vaccinated people, and everyone has always known that better masks provide better protection, but almost any mask is better than nothing. Also, 25% higher death rate since June 2020 in Florida than in states that didn't stop local governments and schools from protecting the people they serve: why? 1. Vaccinated people weren't infectious before Delta
      2. Vaccinated people are infectious for 2 days fewer than unvaccinated*
      3. Masks worked before and during Delta
      4. Better masks are needed for Omicron, not none.
      5. You don't want to talk about death rates in Republican states run by lunatics

So, to sum up: the CDC didn't say what you said they did about infectiousness of vaccinated people, and everyone has always known that better masks provide better protection, but almost any mask is better than nothing. 5) vaccine passports won't lead to a segregation of society

      9) PCR tests are an accurate way to diagnose a positive covid case
      10) it's perfectly safe to sit in a restaurant without a mask, but wearing one from the host stand to the table is also perfectly rational

      2. They work to save lives, and worked on the original variant
      3. They are.
      4. Never said that. Why would I? I think they're a good idea.
      5. Never said that. Ditto, and the segregation is entirely voluntary, unlike race or religion
      6. Never said that, but it hasn't.
      7. Never said that, but I don't think they'll be needed every three months like you've claimed.
      8. They are. Unvaccinated are 14x more likely to die than vaccinated.
      9. They are.
      10. I've said opening restaurants when numbers are high is a bad idea, so has the CDC. If you're sitting with a couple of other people, you're less likely to get infected or cause infection walking past a dozen tables with a mask on than off. How much? I don't know, but washing your hands is also a positive thing that takes almost no effort.
      11. They are.

Funny. Nobody's been rounded up and put in camps, nor has anyone called people "dirty", just "unvaccinated", and that's a choice people make, not a religious or immutable characteristic like race or age. There has been a certain amount of "old people don't matter" from the start coming from denialists like you, though.

Deaths per million since June 2020 in the states I listed: 2,588.
Deaths per million since June 2020 in the other states: 1,852.

Difference: 706 deaths per million population, or 80,952 unnecessarily dead Americans, thanks to Republican "leadership".

I see Florida's gone from 2,000 new cases a day to 50,000, in three weeks. I expect they'll start massaging the numbers again any day now.

So you want to ignore the natural experiment provided by Republican state leaders choosing policies that work against the CDC recommendations killing 80,000 Americans? OK, that's understandable, it's embarrassing to you.

Omicron is "at bay"? Seriously? New cases are at more than twice as high as ever before and still rising rapidly. Maybe Omicron will turn out to be the last gasp of the virus, and it really will turn into the level of seasonal flu you used to claim it was. I really hope it will be, and that it will give people extra immunity without overwhelming the hospitals. But don't pretend it's any kind of a plan, or that deaths wouldn't have been far higher without all the mitigation strategies applied over the last two years. (The 16 Republican states that let 80,000 more Americans die than necessary have proved that.)

You do like taking what's happening today and pretending that it applied a year ago, don't you? "[F]inally admitting"? *IF* (I've learned not to believe anything you claim) Fauci said "people are entering hospitals with covid, not because of covid", that doesn't mean that that was always the case.

I haven't used a cloth mask since August 2020, and when I did, they were triple-layered which works quite well. Of course, you've incorrectly been saying all masks are useless the whole time.

Looks pretty suspect. Just 4,000 cases to draw conclusions from? Besides, new cases have halved in Germany since the beginning of December. What's happening in Florida in the same period? From 2,000 new cases to 75,000 new cases a day. Maybe masks do work, after all?

So AOC goes out of state for the holidays, gets photographed eating without a mask, outside, and the right wing goes berserk. You know that that's the rule in New York, too, right? You can eat outside without a mask in both states. New York can also take care of itself without one of its 27 congressional representatives for a few days of a two year emergency.

Cruz, on the other hand, is one of two Senators for the state, left for Cancun to escape a massive winter storm that had knocked out power to millions of his constituents.*

And DeSantis is the only governor of the state of Florida, and if he had a good reason to be away from his post, he should have delegated his authority.

So the fact that the virus is out of control in fl as well as the rest of the country because people won't do anything to slow the spread.
So he is rationing it out because they can't keep up with the amount of people country wide infected is him purposely trying to kill people.

Not him going fl isn't the only state affected by this.

It be like saying we are in the middle of the woods starving to death, but I'm gonna make sure only 1 person is full while the rest of the group starves to death.

Or i split it up to ensure everyone gets a little bit of food and keep as many alive as possible.

It might not be enough to fill them, but it's better than 49 people die will one lives.

Same in fl. Because fl is irresponsible doesn't mean they should be the only state to get help.

For same reason he bragged about writing the proto-Patriot Act in response to a terrorist attack that hadn't happened yet, and Gulf of Tonkined a "campus rape crisis" into existence to justify withholding colleges' federal funding if they didn't directly undermine the principle of due process: he's evil.

Given, however, that he can't just eliminate the tenth Amendment (much as I'm sure he'd like to), what exactly do you expect him to DO about monoclonal antibody treatments? He's not a governor.

When I say 'Biden' I'm really talking about his handlers, lets face it, is Biden himself really in control of anything? He can't control his own ass and if we were able to stand inside of his head, I'm certain that the only sound we would hear is "duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh."

Anyway, Biden is preventing the distribution of drugs and other therapies to places like FL and TX as a means to punish those states for not going along with their plans. Not giving this useless and dangerous jab to their denizens denies Pfizer, et al short and long term profits. It also shows that people like so called doctors Fauci and Rochelle don't know what they are talking about, and quite honestly anyone listening to or following what either one of them say. . . one would either have to be a massive delusional or shill at this point.

Of course we had your political leaders recommending :disinfectant" and uv light. I just wanted to see if you would fall into the trap. Since trump said disinfectant. But you said nothing. You said nothing while members of your brood actively protested and threatened the very lives of medical professionals working 24/7 to save their lives.

Then you have the nerve to claim you are pro-science. For months on end, people refused to wear masks. For months on end, folks refused vaccination leading directly to the deaths of vulnerable and immuno-comprised citizens.

      All the while your leader was saying;

"And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning, because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that, so that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me. So, we’ll see, but the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute. That’s pretty powerful."

So you stepped to me trying to do this science thing.

      1. The study you recommended is for effectiveness against the Omnicron variant. Not Covid-19.
      2. Everyone knows about these studies. But we need clinical trials to prove effectiveness. Again this is against Omnicron, not Covid-19.
      3. Even these methods are not cure as Trump suggested and as you ignorantly keep repeating. These methods might decrease the "viral load" of Omnicron. Which means they may be effective in decreasing transmission rates as they can lower the amount of virus a person is carrying.

You understand none of this. Trump understood none of this. And for certain Biden understands none of this.

The difference is Biden only repeats what he is told.

Trump opened his ass and shit all over the American public. You opened your ass and shit all over this forum.

If you don't understand science, that's cool. It is some complicated stuff. But stop beating folks over the head with your ignorance.

      haha!!!

This is from your own study. Why are you cutting and posting from studies you have not even read? I had this discussion with another trumpturd last year, when he similarly claimed that disinfectants were effective against Covid-19.

Read your own study ignorant man.

"Concerning COVID-19 transmission, publications have focused on the premise that saliva plays a central role in the transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and that procedures performed in oral and nasopharyngeal areas can generate a large number of droplets and aerosols. However, in the absence of vaccines or effective therapies, it is crucial to explore existing treatments to reduce the SARS-CoV-2 viral load. Infection control measures are still the only option for reducing the number of new infections (1). These studies reinforce the importance of biosafety and cross-infection prevention protocols in limiting viral spread during these procedures."

So I will leave it to you to do the google search to find out what SARS-CoV-2 is. Since that is the only way you found this information. Because you definitely do not talk to scientists or doctors. I can give you access to podcasts, facebook groups, etc. of scientists who are my friends. You can ask questions about the virus, clinical trials, research, etc.

But you don't do that, you talk straight out of your ass. And you do not even possess the intellect to be embarrassed.

Address the 25% higher death rate since June 2020 in Florida and similarly dangerous states; that's the result of "back to normal NOW".

The OP's question is simply hyperbolic reframing of decisions made by government scientists to make Biden sound evil. I don't believe for a second that the decision is being made for non-scientific reasons, or that they're getting less than 6.4% of resources.

The Florida SG, Dr. Joseph Ladapo, is positively anti vaccinations and masks, and now he's complaining that he's not getting priority on treatments that wouldn't be necessary if it wasn't for DeSantis' and his choices. Does Florida deserve more than their fair share of treatments, especially since it's a political decision to let more of their citizens get sick and die than other states?

@Avicenna Let me know if you ever bring anything substantive to any discussion.

I’m not a virologist but simple google search fellas:
“ Two of the three monoclonal antibody treatments that doctors have depended on to keep Covid-19 patients from becoming seriously ill do not appear to thwart the latest version of the coronavirus.”

@OddBeMe Since omicron is a cold, they won't need it.

@OddBeMe You said they don't work on Omnicron, so I provided an alternative. Having multiple treatment options is good policy, since it's all about saving lives, isn't it? That's why Aaron Rogers used ivermectin.

Yet my old google machine seems to say it’s a ton les effective. And actual vaccinations are 70% effective conservatively….

"Lose at your attempt to bring about a second holocaust."
Told you it was hyperbolic reframing. The lunatic thinks keeping people alive is a dastardly plot.

@OddBeMe That’s not an answer. But you are probably still trying to process the facts that cloth masks are useless, people are over counted as being hospitalized with covid as opposed to from covid, and that there’s no need for asymptomatic people to isolate or even be tested.

@joeldalton "Tell me what the limit is, then. Where’s the line of “keeping people safe” for you. "

That's an interesting response to me pointing out that you're trying to paint practical health advice as an "attempt to bring about a second holocaust." Here's a hint: trying to keep people alive until a pandemic runs its course is not the same as trying to wipe out "undesirables".

I'd say that in countries with long borders and lots of travel, Germany's approach would be one to be aspired to (and we're not without our right-wing areas, mostly in the old East Germany, where conspiracy theories, cases, and deaths are far higher than elsewhere in the country).

Deaths per million: 1,339, the equivalent of 442,000 Americans total.

Or there's the EU, with 27 different countries, at least as many different cultures and languages, which has just topped 2,000 deaths per million, like 670,000 Americans.

Of course, if you're somewhere like Australia or New Zealand and you have a chance to nip it in the bud and stay almost completely free of the virus, it makes sense to come down hard on people who would basically commit mass murder by intentionally spreading the disease. They've had 87 and 10 deaths per million, respectively, like 29,000 and 3,330 Americans.

@Avicenna No, you’re not just supposed to “accept it”. You’re supposed to read the science, do the homework and NOT fall prey to politicians like trump.
