Is Biden "Sharp as Ever?"?

The White House just released a statement that Joe Biden is "Sharp as Ever". I agree with this. He never was the sharpest knife in the drawer and he has been in a state of decline before he ran in 2020. The fake news has done an outstanding job in deceiving the American public and covering this up.

No, lmao. But the good news is, we’re electing a president, not a captain of the debate team. If he steps aside for someone else, that’s fine, and it’s no indictment of his record these past four years. I think Biden has been pretty good, and average at worst. The only people who could try to tell you otherwise are the completely dishonest and disingenuous conservative media, who have bent over backwards to spin every action, inaction, and coincidence as being directly the fault of Joe Biden, worst president of all-time, for Day One. If I’ve learned anything through the Trump experience, it’s that right wing media is not in the least bit credible. If you want to say CNN showed more sign-holding than window-breaking during a BLM riot, maybe…. but that pales in comparison to just straight up running with Trump’s stolen election lie, which cost FoxNews almost $800M in a defamation case. It’s very clear which side is maybe not giving the full picture vs the side trying to make up stories out of whole cloth.

The problem the Democrats are up against is that they try to campaign on substance. But the American people are INCREDIBLY fucking stupid, and they respond to dumb shit like optics and rhetoric. If the Democrats turn to Gavin Newsom, I don’t even know the full scope of him as a politician yet, but one thing that dude knows how to do is fight with words.

Like what do they say to Newsom? “You have a lot of homeless people?” Lmao, and I’m sure that’s of no direct consequence to it being widely known that California has the most palatable year ‘round weather America has to offer, which definitely isn’t the reason its popular to live there to begin with, and DEFINITELY wouldn’t have any effect on a homeless person wanting to live there. And not for nothing, that looks bad on someone to just be having disdain for homeless people in the first place, what kind of person would you have to be to think that?

But anyway, Trump’s whole thing is steamrolling people in a debate, and the facts don’t matter, he’ll say what he thinks is best in the moment and knows he won’t be fact-checked in real time. He just knows how to keep talking and sound confident…. but don’t confuse that with having substance.

Newsom is great at rattling off facts and figures, and most importantly, Trump and MAGA just need to be publicly called out in front of a national audience just on a moral level.

Like the #1 thing I think when I hear the stuff MAGA is calling for is just a viscerally horrified “OH MY GOD…. what kind of people are we trying to be?”😱😱😱 I almost can’t believe it’s real, in all honesty. And Gavin Newsom would call that out, in those words.

Democrats are on the right side of almost everything these days, at least socially, yet they find ways to lose because they don’t sling mud as well as Republicans.

I think Republicans are appealing to a base that’s more about a visceral negative response to things (cloaked in logic or morality, but that’s almost never the true reason), so rhetoric is big for them.

Democrats try to argue for substance, it would seem to me, but only left wingers keenly tuned into politics would never know, the casual Democrat or left-leaning person might need more rhetoric.

I mean…. respectfully…. rhetoric is for dumb people, and both sides plus the middle have dumb people. Like the population of America is EASILY 70% dumb, and that’s probably very generous.

So that’s the voting pool, split however it is, and the Democrats seem too shy to really attack Republican politicians they way they should in many cases, for fear of looking partisan. MAGA Republicans don’t give a FUCK about coming off as partisan😂

And Trump himself is a very poor man’s insult comic, which dumb people respond very well to. So even if they don’t really get the politics, they can just mindlessly say “OHHHHHHHH!!! He just called that guy’s wife ugly on stage! I’ve never seen that before! And he keeps vaguely saying he’ll make the country great! No further questions, I believe him!”🤦‍♂️😂 That’s the level of simpleton we’re dealing with in some cases.

Trump is that guy from high school who was a huge asshole but he was good at sports and was mean enough to see the fat kid’s shirt riding up a bit and make a joke out loud to the entire history class and get the poor kid saddled with some name like “Jelly Rolls” or something for the rest of his time in school. And for some unbelievable reason, that holds social currency with some people. I just wish humans were better than this.

So I think Newsom would be an excellent stand-in, who won’t necessarily call names, but will just ask the question most of us on the outside are asking of “what the HELL is wrong with you guys right now? Like seriously, WHAT THE FUCK?”

If it’s Biden…. I mean, he still has my vote, because the alternative is just absolutely unconscionable to me. I think America would do well to get out of the business of electing the elderly to the position of president in the first place. But of these two old fogies, the choice is still pretty clear. And he might not make it four years, I don’t know. But I haven’t heard a single good argument against Kamala Harris, it’s just name calling and accusations of her sleeping her way up the ladder, but none of that affects her ability to govern. Or they’ll say she checks off the right demographic boxes, but it’d be crickets from the right if he goes with a woman and/person of color for Trump’s VP. She’s been hidden too much, honestly, I don’t know much about her.

But the biggest thing is that the President isn’t “just the President”, it’s the sum of all the surrounding parts, the cabinet, the experts they turn to for guidance, etc. Even if debate-Biden showed up in a time of crisis, the rest of the White House would be on that shit, so “he’s too old” doesn’t really resonate with me, considering that Trump, and Project 2025, and a cemented or further titled Supreme Court of far right justices with no boundaries who are rigging shit to get Trump out of trouble right in front of our fucking faces and smirking at us while they do it, are the alternative. And notice no one is worrying about how Biden will abuse the immunity ruling, it’s just Trump. If that doesn’t tell you who the bag guy in the story is, I really have to just throw my hands up, because I just don’t know what else to tell you, it’s just willful reality-denial at that point.

Run whoever you gotta run, they just gotta beat Trump. Looking more and more like that can’t be Joe, whether it’s warranted or not, but this is an existential threat, in the highest degree of seriousness.
