Except they have proof of his crimes. They have recordings of him pressuring officials in Georgia. He kept top secret documents and refused to give them back and when the fbi finally went to get them back he still had more in other locations. He shared state secrets to a member of his club. These are just a few things that either have recordings, been visually verified or have witnesses.

Whether he was lying or not, he still called and put pressure on those officials.

He did lie on his business documents about his hush payment to Stormy Daniels. Although even I can admit this case was ticky tack and I doubt he sees prison time for it.
