How Christianity gets manipulated for political gain, what do you think?

This kind of attitude is sometimes seen as the “good” way to be a Christian, to pressure Christians into being more liberal. Do you agree or disagree?

Christianity was manipulated for political gain to get people to accept Roman (and then Byzantine) rule; that made them rather LESS liberal.

Frankly, though, given the commands to reject national labels, feed and clothe the poor, abandon pride, go the extra mile with those who force you to do things, and seek exclusively after the kingdom of God, it's hard to imagine how one could be MORE liberal than a Gospel Christian.

If anything, the sheer number of after-the-fact justifications put on the instruction that it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to get to Heaven shows how Christianity is manipulated to make people more conservative. It's inherently an upsetting faith.
