How did you feel that the control of information is preventing us from any source of history?

we used to *hav paper encyclopedias, written by experts in their *feild of study.

they keep some jn libraries but ghe trend is spreading "dont keep a paper encyclopedia it takes up space" people tell each other... so the only information will be from "internet".

after 1980, people became too lazy to turn pages!

so they invented wikipedia... that "anyone" can edit like fandom... instead of an expert. we can't assume an expert checks it or else... they would stop allowing people to change the writing of expert!

but now even britanica online is losing credibility by trying to twist history.

if you read paper britanicca king herod was a jew... but not anymore.

some "fact checker" at editor of britanica mixed up families... as a fact checker he probably knows ishmael is a different family then esau... and that nations were defined by father in events of intermarriage.

probably intentionaly twisted to fool people that herod was arab!

he put in parenthesis herod father was edom... from family of esau... brother of Jacob... and then in the main text claims herod was an arab...

but arabs celebrate ed el adha! that they are from ishmael... a different family than edom.

but britanicca tried to twist history as if arabs ruled israel when he was a jew!

now readers might get fooled "arabs ruled" even when the king was a jew and not from ishmael... hoping most readers are unfamiliar with ed al adha... (why would they know?).

by twisting history as if jews have less of a claim to israel, because "they got an arab into the story"... but as above that is the "wrong family" not just kuz an outsider said "you are ishmael" but you yourself celebrated adha!

britanicca editor showed jew hatred to twist history against the jews... and lose credibility... but where can we get facts anymore?

luckily people around me know and say "wikipedia is not reliable" and academic warn not to quote it! but the control of information is preventing us from any source of history! are you okay with that?

correction: wikipedia came out in 2001. not when world web in 1989, as i referred to above. thanks pat @patois , the first search engines in 1990.
moving my point by ten years, it is still true in 1990.

The first ebook reader didn't even exist until 1998 and it was not popular. eBooks didn't really even get recognition until Kindle was released in 2007. In the early to mid 2000s there were several projects to digitize books for libraries, but it took time for the behavior to catch on. The big projects were Million Book Project that started scanning books in 2001, Google Books that started scanning in 2004, and Open Content Alliance that started in 2005. It was probably in the 2010s before eBooks really became mainstream. So you're off by roughly 30 years or 2 generations...

The first Apple iPad came out in 2010 and that's when you had a half million eBooks selling per month.

That out of the way, there are tons of scans of old books available online. Even if it is challenging to find physical copies at times, there are archives.

I just did a quick search and found Jewish history books dating back to 1869 in one of the libraries I use...

Whatever you need to tell yourself, but people still had to turn pages in libraries until they had widespread access to eBooks. Even in the early 2010's people were still mostly hardcover in colleges. The technology came when it came, it's a fact of history and adoption of that technology lagged as always because people are generally hard to break old habits and are on average pretty technologically challenged.

Wikipedia didn't even exist until 2001. It was not popular in 2001 though. It wasn't until the mid to late 2000s that it actually became mainstream. So you are still looking at a similar time frame. Where have you been under a rock? You clearly are much younger than 48 to not know all of these details about the internet. Everyone in their 40 watched this all play out in real time. It took media advertising and google search promotion to make wiki a thing and Google wasn't even a big search engine in most people's eyes until about 2004.

A lot of people back in the early 2000s were still on AOL dial up and they used AOL search engine because it came with their internet connection. Most people aren't exactly technologically savvy. More advanced users would go to sites like HotBot, Lycos, WebCrawler, etc. back then. When Google came out most people didn't like it at all. It was highly rejected. It took a mass brainwashing through televised media (legacy new agencies) and news articles in newspapers and magazines to popularize Google with the American public. Eventually people started using Google and Yahoo as they were directed by things like the nightly news. Once people had been pushed toward the information funnel of Google (The GooG) by about 2004, then other information sites like Wikipedia and FaceBook (LifeLog) started to get promoted and stacked on top of that information stream. These are government programs that are layered on top of each other, that were designed for domestic surveillance. They were sold to the public under false pretenses with narrative crafting promoting the image of geniuses that started businesses in their garages and came up with technologies that would change the world. In reality they are just DARPA projects that are being run by CIA agents. The same goes for many cloud software projects so that people information is stored on the internet rather than on their own physical computer as well as for AI projects like ChatGPT.

we see page turning and space storage issues were bothering people in 1993.
my other points about information is still a problem.

I'm keeping my old dictionaries that contain the real meanings of certain words that have been warped beyond reason in recent years.

My history books, too.

Modifications in newer "books" are fine and proper as new information becomes available, as long as they're truthful.

I haven't been seeing a whole lot of truthful modifications to history in recent years.
