What would you do in this lifeboat dilemma?

You are on a lifeboat with limited capacity, and there are too many people on it. The boat is sinking because of the excess weight. Do you choose to throw some people overboard to save the others, and if so, how do you decide who goes?

Lmao i hate thinking about this because i’d be like that douche Cal on Titanic who was pushing people out the way and pretending he had a kid just to get on the lifeboat 😭🤣 In situations like this, I only have sympathy for children and whatever guy I’m dating. Family- i love ya, but you’re bullies and on your on. Old folks- you’ve lived your years, step aside. Men and women- we’re in the same boat, so its survival of the fittest (or survival of the one who just seriously wants to live) 😭😂🙈

In the scenario you posted, i’d only kick people off me if they tried to drag me down with them. Self defense 🤷‍♀️ I’d only throw them overboard if they grabbed on to me freaking out (and were not children or whomever im dating). SORRY! 🤣 I love my grandma but she always said she can't swim and would drown us if she wanted to climb on top of us to live. She’d get thrown over immediately

I guess I'm going in the water... I'd never ask something of someone else that I wouldn't do myself. I'd never be able to live with myself after that if I was a coward. I couldn't hold up my head.

I can plainly see that this vessel has lower decks.
Assuming that the lower decks contain not people, but unnecessary cargo or ballast, I'd be jettisoning such cargo or ballast as needed, then positioning people on those lower decks towards the bow to improve the boat's attitude.

Bear also in mind that that boat is riding very unnaturally high in the water, so the jettisoning of too much cargo will result in the boat's center of gravity becoming too high for it to maintain its upright stability.
If an adequate amount of rope is available, I would highly recommend lashing the excess ballast to the bow and to the forward port and starboard gunwales, and allowing it to hang overboard in the water, thereby greatly improving the vessel's attitude and person-carrying capacity.

Be careful to keep as much fresh drinking water and food rations as is possible in the process.

And they need to do so, pronto.

Good luck to them, they can all survive if they keep their wits about them!!!

I will say to take turns in the boat, and all the stay connected to the boat. In case of storm i will say the strongest people to jump in the wather stay connected to the boat and hold on it, will the children's, woman's and weak people stay one.
In case of sharks (this will be the moust difficult in my opinion) the cowards one in the wather (no matter weak or strong) and the brave one to hold something to throw in case somebody see or feel something in the water or in to the shark.
But is a very difficult and risky situation no matter how you look and plan to survive or to save people, 100% will be victims.

Well if there are women and children I would ask for something to float on and take my chances of being rescued. I am a strong swimmer and as long as I had something to keep me warm and remain mostly out of the cold water I would likely be okay.

Yes, I would pick the most obnoxious people and maybe go by how fat they are as well. Some maybe I would think of a number and let them guess and the winner gets to stay on the boat. Maybe I would just throw somebody who just rubbed me the wrong way or maybe they remind me of somebody that screwed me over.

It's not my job to throw people overboard. If we are sinking, I would try to get some people near me to go overboard with me, hopefully with life jackets or at least something to hold onto and float.
