Trump has chosen J. D. Vance as his VP pick. Do you have a positive or negative view of Trump's VP pick?

I find his shift from basically cussing trump out to "kissing trumps' ass" (according to trump) to be extremely sus. I also oppose radicalism in general, which I'm under the impression vance is. Kind worried that he's the type to just follow the politics and allow himself to be radicalized even further, which is the last thing I want from a potential world leader (him as president in the event of trump's death etc sounds like an absolute nightmare). I'm also a democrat to begin with though, so I oppose a lot of his policy issues. Like, it's not even that he's just anti-abortion (though is appears he's shifted around quite a bit on where he stands with that issue anyway), he for some reason thinks that we need to increase the birth rate? I don't get that. The global population is not struggling, and neither is the American population, we don't need to actively encourage people to have more kids. Apparently he also believes that people should be in politics if they don't have kids, which in my mind is just kind of ridiculous (like, even if you don't personally have kids, you still have family and friends, and people who live in the country that you'd want to have be safe and happy in the future, so it's not like you're uninvested). Honestly I think it's more of a move to gain support from people who feel attacked by the idea that many young people don't consider having children to be the end-all, be-all of their lives, because there's not actually that much logical sense to it given the context of this country.
Overall, I disagree with his policy as it's currently being expressed, but I also don't trust him, specific policies aside, to stay consistent with his current stances given his track record. I also just really want radicals to stay out of office regardless of their political affiliations.
I have no idea who the man is 🤷🏼ββοΈ, but with all the negative votes on here it can't be good 🙄
Those who voted negative don't believe people can change their opinions and views π€·π»ββοΈ
I've said many times that, as an Independent, I really don't like either candidate, and I've seriously been considering not voting at all. Trump's choice of Vance might change that.. no commitments by me yet though.
I like Trump's choice of JD Vance. Strategically, it make it more likely that the Republicans will win in Ohio, which is a key swing state. Vance is younger, with new ideas (which I've been hoping for), and he has helped tone down the Republican platform to be less far right, more towards the middle. He is likely to be the Republican's nominee in 2028. Noting that Trump can only serve one more term, assuming he wins. it's a good idea to have someone as VP who would be a good candidate to continue Republicans in the White House. And even if Trump loses, Vance is now in the national spotlight, much like Obama was when he gave the keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention, which helped lead to his 2008 election.
Ohio was already sealed in the bag.
So what does he even really add to the ticket, exactly?
@WhiteBoyChill Youth, and appeal to more moderate Republicans and Independents.
Glenn Youngkin, Nikki Haley, and Tulsi Gabbard were all better fits.
Based on your criteria
@WhiteBoyChill I supported Nikki Haley, but not as VP.
Why not as VP?
@WhiteBoyChill Donald and Nikki would never get along, just look at what they did together was she was UN ambassador.
Perhaps so. But Glenn Youngkin was still the best choice we had
Going back to your original statement, isnβt JD Vance this self professed βMaga through and throughβ type guy? I donβt see how heβs βmoderateβ in any way.
Thatβs why I hated him as VP. We donβt need another copy and paste of Trump. Nevermind a guy with no personality who just tries to copy Trump all the time
Trump will likely lose some independent, middle-of-the-road votes with this.
Vance is only 39 and has little experience. Reminds me of Bush 41's pick of Dan Quayle in 1988. At the time, Quayle was 41 and people ridiculed him. Of course, Bush did win, but it wasn't because of Quayle' it was DESPITE Quayle because Lee Atwater ran Bush's campaign. Well, Atwater was so despicable that God took him out right away after that election and he is now in the newly dug-out circle of Hell with Limbaugh. No GOP or DEM operative is as smart or ruthless as Atwater was.
So, this pick could hurt, but it likely won't matter.

I f^cking detest that guy.
And I say this a Trump supporter.
Heβs a fcking snake.
Only pretended to be for Trump just to get elected and now is busy kissing his ass just to try and get to the top.
Where was he fcking 4 years ago?
Well documented history of being an Anti-Trumper.
And WTF does he even add to the ticket to begin with?
And why TF make someone your nominee that has no broader appeal?
He is literally just a copy and paste of Donald Trump.
Adds absolutely nothing to the ticket.
Plus, heβs not actually MAGA, and will backstab Trump first chance he gets
I've never heard of him before so, I have no opinion. I was just hoping it was gonna be Ramaswamy
Me too, but I'm just glad Trump didn't pick a woman as his VP. As long as Vivek is a part of Trump's cabinet and future of the party itself I'll be happy
Yeah, I guess so but, why no women?
Women are far too untrustworthy and majority of women are leftist, liberal, Marxist feminist democrats in republican clothing
All women are woke in one way or another
DEATH TO ALL WOMEN!!
Sorry, I got carried away.
Seen the movie? I've never even heard of it!!
Now you have π
And I'm a much better person for it, thank you!
Terrible idea to pick a never trumper, if he wants to life 4 years he needs to make sure the replacement has the same ideas he does. Now all you gotta do is get rid of Trump somehow and then this guy who was firmly against Trump takes over. Going to encourage way more stuff like we saw recently.
Trump should take Ohio now. An important state.
Every democrat ad will show vance saying how much he hates Trump.
If you think they'll play the clips in context with a follow up where Vance shows a change of heart, you have to be kidding me.
I don't know enough about JD vance to know if he's not just another RINO deep state monkey.
What makes you think Vance is in anyway genuine? He only pretended to support Trump, to get elected. Then spent all the rest of his time ass kissing to get the VP slot
@WhiteBoyChill I guess we will find out going forward. Trump is the headliner though, Vance will help some.
@gorydetails Exactly. It was literally the stupidest thing Trump couldβve done
@WhiteBoyChill Selecting the VP is usually centered on an electoral college strategy meaning to help win a state. Vance is one of two senators from Ohio. Ohio is an important swing state that very well could determine the whole election. That is the big reason.
Marco brings Florida but Trump is now from Florida and that state is not a swing state this year due to all of the boomers moving there to retire.
Dick Cheney once joked after George W Bush selected him as VP that he brings a whopping 3 electoral votes. It is about the electoral votes generally. In Harrisβ case, it was a minority woman play for votes which is a different reason than the standard.
βOhio is an important swing state that very well could determine the whole election. That is the big reason.β
Thatβs not true anymore. The year isnβt 2000 anymore.
Trump lost 2020 but still won Ohio. Ohio does not decide the election
@WhiteBoyChill Fair point.
"Negative" might be a strong word, but I personally would have preferred someone else. Someone less blue collar and with more experience. I'm surprised he picked him honestly. I think the GOP may have forced him to pick him.
Hey I just realised that Pence and Vance - it's like a cheap way to save money on sign edits? Lol π
He could have at least 3 or 4 others to do a better job. A more trusted partner. But who knows? Trump knows him better.
I know this much and that is he better watch for wolves in sheep's clothing this time around.
He opposed giving citizens rights to put things on the ballot in his state. Trump once did a rally with Vance where he said "All he does is kiss my ass," and Vance just stood there and smiled.
Its true. He literally ass kissed his way in
Brilliant choice
Biden is a vegetable that thinks he was an airline pilot.
Negative. The U. S. is turning into a Catholic run ish. 6 of 9 supreme court justices are Catholic too.
It's expected though since the anti christ system needs to push their agenda forward throughout the world.
Still a hell of a lot better than having Roe v Wade if you ask me
Iβm surprised you prefer leftists that support abortion over Catholics
@WhiteBoyChill: They are the same ish.
These people don't believe the Bible. They all are anti christ and God.
The Jesus Christ or God they mention out in public isn't the same Jesus Christ of the Bible.
Catholics use the same Bible you do so I donβt see your point
@WhiteBoyChill: To begin with the immense majority of catholics don't even read the Bible.
Secondly even if they did once you know the truth or been exposed to the real Biblical truth of God's word and still remain Catholic then that's willful heresy.
Catholicism is a fake pagan bs religion that mixes in Christianity.
It's fake and satanic in orgin. The Bible clearly warns of the Catholic Church and to get out of it.
Fair point. But to be fair there is plenty of cultism in the Protestant religions as well.
Like LDS, Jehovaβs Witnesses or Pentecostals for instance.
Theyβre a hell of a lot worse than Catholics
I thought Jesus gave Peter authority over the church, no? The Vatican was the succession of Godβs hand picked leader.
@WhiteBoyChill: That's BS they say. The apostle Peter was never a damn Catholic.
Jehovaβs Witnesses is another bs cult.
Don't let these politicians fool you with religion nor their claim of the Bible.
Believe me most of them don't believe the Bible like you think they do. It's all show and for political power.
Forgot to mention. Southern Baptists are batshit crazy too and they literally espouse racism out of their mouths
Then why did Peter found the Catholic church? It was his chuch, and God put him in charge.
Do you not know Peter was the first Pope?
@WhiteBoyChill: I don't believe in any of them. I just believe the Bible.
Never follow a man.
But you said you were a born again Christian though? I thought you belonged to a church.
And I see non-denominational and Protestant churches here in the Northeast with LGBTQ+, BLM flags, βlove is loveβ signs all the time. Iβve never seen Catholic churches doing that shit up here.
@WhiteBoyChill: I am but I still don't follow man. I don't trust any of them with my walk with God.
I think thatβs fair. I personally kinda prefer to just let faith be my own journey as well.
Read the Bible and form my own conclusions from it
I would have preferred someone else. Time will tell whether it was a good choice.
Don't even know who he is and I think I don't like his face - I'm not American
That twinkle in his eye gives off unwelcomed twinkle vibes like "I'm not trusty" lol π
He would have done better selecting the head of the Proud Boys (except that guy is in prison).
An ohioan, i can't stand
Just another reason not to vote for trump, for me. I'm from ohio
JD Vance was my pick as well.
He was my first choice. Then Scott.
JD Vance was in the Marine Corps 🥰
If Trump likes him, I likes him.
