I feel most mainstream politicians' lives are constantly in danger. When you're a public figure, there's always people who will disagree with your stance or feel threatened you and want you dead.

Its kind of crazy that you think they were being lax before. The Secret Service is never relaxed about their duty, what you saw in that assassination attempt was them at their 100%.

What it shows is not that the Secret Service was taking it easy, but that even if you take it completely serious there will still be the possibility of things to go terribly wrong. This will not change going into the future.

Yeah, that is not actually improving his safety. That is just about giving the impression that the safety is higher than normal. A big part of the secret service is to play security theater, to make people think that it is impossible to assassination someone and therefore not to bother or to over complicate the plot and make it more likely to fail. Furthermore its to give the public more sense of security, like tricking you that Trump is suddenly more safe than previously.

But in reality, that is not how that works at all. Trump is still just as vulnerable as he always was, which is to say "Not very" but someone can always get lucky.

Eh i can't really agree. I just don't see anything like this happening again.

I dont see it happening exactly the same either, but that is just because it was so unlikely in the first place. Pure dumb odds and all that. I do predict that Trump will be subject to an assassination attempt again. Probably multiple times in fact. This is "Trumps America", the political situation that he helped to create that is finally coming crashing down on his head in my opinion.

There are consequences to always firing people up and throwing around threatening language in politics.
