At Trump conventions. Why do the speakers always talk about him likes he's some sort of god?

I was just listening to a Trump Convention on YouTube , and one of the speakers was saying things like " Trump is the best golfer I know." And then giving many examples about his great golfing achievements.

Why do they do this? And why is being a great golfer ( if true), relevant?

That's not really an example of talking about someone like they're a god. I've made similar statements about people I outright don't like (Lebron James for example). But as far as the main point goes, it's because it's a hype rally. It's sole purpose is to raise money and promote the individual as the best candidate for the "leader" of the country. Of course they're going to gas the dude up. Otherwise what's the point?

It is typical of religious nationalisms to have some moral authority that is above scrutiny. Christians want to claim Trump is Christian instead of Jesus, so this is Christian nationalism. Even if it has nothing to do with Christianity it is still the same formula: unimpeachable moral authority justified by decades of grievance myths. That's every religion ever. That's also trumpism.
