It isn’t a failed experiment since it is still going.
America is a Constitutional Republic though with Democratic values. I’d say the founders didn’t expect for propaganda networks to increasingly divide this nation’s views while also having the electoral college system which affects people’s real voice. It is a flawed system though not a failed one.
The way I see failed is if the popular vote chooses the Democratic guy though the electoral college gives us back the Orange faced dunce… Tariffs & Mass Deportations have historic negative effect on the economy and I don’t believe Trump will somehow deviate from the ‘norm’ especially since he can’t think for sh*t. His solution to the border was to build a 2,000 mile moat then fill it with reptilians, his solution to climate change was to nuke the skies over Africa to destroy hurricanes as they formed, inject bleach into the vein as a Covid19 treatment which landed real people into the hospital, his solution for losing an election wasn’t to concede but to attack the Capitol.
Typically I try to avoid short pithy answers, but this question can be answered with one.
As Winston Churchill said, "‘Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all the others."
That about sums it up. Human beings are not capable of perfection and the purpose of democracy is NOT to obtain perfection. Rather it is the avoid - or at least minimize - the worst of all evils.
" The absolute ruler may be a Nero, but he is sometimes Titus or Marcus Aurelius; the people is often Nero, and never Marcus Aurelius. "

I would say disagree because it is a system that in principle allows all citizens an equal amount of participation in a country. A democracy gives the citizens the right to live like they want sure there are problems but any form of government comes with a problem. A democracy comes with hardship because as a single person has more rights they also have more responsibilities.
A dictatorship might seem more secure but it gets its security from having spies and people that observe every actions that happens so there is no privacy since every step is controlled. There is also no freedom to say your opinion. I don´t think that´s better.
It's not the idea or workings of democracy that's failed. It's the corrupt politicians using multiple terms in office that gas allowed themselves the connections to embezzle and with those funds pay to have things done. They have picked up the nazi playbook and use it to It's finest. Their street thugs antifa are not the bully boys of Hitlers brown shirts. But looting and burning gets a point across.
Let's see, umm... I wonder how this could possibly be rectified? It would take a person to lead but that person would have to be in it for the country not themselves. I can't think of a single politician that fits that description. No politician anyway.
No system is perfect, but democracy, for all its faults, has proven to be the best system anyone has come up with so far. Maybe in the future, there will be a better system (like some of the Sci-Fi shows have), but I don't think that will happen in my lifetime.
It would be if there weren't EXTREME poverty amongst extreme affluence. Dr King said two years before his assassination that the 26 previous societies which featured a few avaricious super wealthy folk stealing from and further impoverishing the poor collapsed inwardly as the USA appears to be doing today.
Democracy is a terrible idea. The founding fathers went into detail about the failures of past Democracies. That's why the US was constructed as a Constitutional Republic. In spite of what the idiot democrats say The United States is not now nor ever has been a democracy. Please read the federalist papers. Today the US has morphed into a plutocratic socialist kakistocratic thugocracy. Soon it will be full on communist with limited "free trade" and you will be livestock managed by bureaucrats and AI. why, because you asked this question. Had you been properly educated outside the public indoctrination system you would know the answer to the question. Democracy, hasn't failed the question is a false choice. The republic has been stolen by the stupid and the blind as the forefathers expected. Ben Franklin upon being asked what form of government the framers had setup for the new nation responded "A republic if you can keep it".
It hasn't failed yet, but more people are turning away from it because in the last half-century, it's prioritized the needs of the overlords over those of the 99.999999%, and especially young folk have noticed and aren't as gung-ho for Democracy as were their elders.
Yes. People tend to vote their fears not their conscience.
The lesser of two evils wins out.
Politcal parties and allegiance to those parties has ruined democracy.
Also, people can vote for any reason: how hot the spouse's wife is, how good looking the candidate is, what county his ancestors are from, what church he attends, etc. Heck you can walk into a voting booth, close your eyes, and pick candidates by random, and it's perfectly lega.
Democracy, AKA mob rule can fail. A Republic is hardy unless detractors seek to destroy it by election fraud, like Democrats are trying to do now.
That's why modern democracies have the rule of law as their anchor, and have high barriers to changing the most basic laws. Now the Republican party, representing a minority of Americans, changed the rules so that they could pack SCOTUS with true believers to do the will of billionaires, you have minority rule, which is worse than majority rule.
I wouldn't say its a failed experiment but the parliamentary system isn't sufficient. Democracy itself tends to work well.
It's a failed system, educating people doesn't help much cause even with the right info it's being filtered through their stupid brains and it produces garbage
People calling it a democracy show they are uneducated. The United States is a federal republic, not a democracy. The word 'democracy' does not appear one time in either the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution.
I never mentioned the U. S. A.
Has never been an experiment - but a lullaby show to keep the citizen sleeping.
Not when you constitutional monarchy or the uniqueness of the American Constitution
Nah, it was corrupted and manipulated until it became pay to win
Democracies typically fail within 20 years. Which is why we have a Republic in America.
All the other systems are much worse.
