Because the US tops the list of school shootings by miles... Not a single other civilised country in the world has as a high a school shooting rate as in the US.

Here in Europe, it rarely happens... anywhere in Europe. Even firearms murderers are relatively rare in Europe; in the UK, only 9% of homicides are due to people have been murdered with guns (Knives top the list)... Our regular police doesn't even carry guns (many officers refuse to do so).

Get rid of your gun laws, and your country will become much more safer

Yeah, the Pro-Gun people always like to say that they feel a need to arm themselves because their biggest enemy, the Police apparently, is heavily armed too.

Maybe they should wonder why the Police is so heavily armed in the US? Is it maybe because THEY are the ones who need to defend themselves against a heavily armed population?

It's exactly why the Police in the UK doesn't feel a need to arm itself, Guns are rare here. They are being regulated well; and if they do get into a tricky situation, heavily armed 'Rapid Responds Units' are on call. It's extremely rare that a Police Officer gets killed in the line of duty.

I severely disagree with the Justice System in the UK, and the Home Office; I've got nothing against Police officers. The majority of the British public still has trust in the police, not so much the justice system.

I've never been in trouble with the Police... but even if that would happen, I won't resist. I am man enough to own up what I've done and face the consequences.

We need someone who has more authority than a school resource officer (can make arrests) but not exactly a “cop” either. I would give them access to non-lethal weapons (taser, pepper spray, etc) and very close connection with the local police force. Have them uninformed but not police uniformed.

I might even allow them access to firearms in a safe in the principles office or something in the case of a school shooting.

If there is excessive violence in the schools there should be cops. They need to be trained in the special circumstances of law enforcement in a school setting. Safety is the objective in the schools. Weapons, drugs and violence must be eliminated. There is a city near where I live that has one of the largest high schools in the country. A few years ago hmthe school police was eliminated. Last year there have been multiple teachers that were assaulted and many employees had quit be are they could not deal with such a dangerous environment.

You cannot shoot the bad kids. I remember the school police but I cannot remember if they were armed. I think that they were.

There are things that kids know that adults do not. They need to be brought up to speed.

I think things like this are complicated with so much crap going into the zoning and how schools are funded to how enrollment works etc.

The facts are when you put a large amount of inner city minorities together (some schools are huge), they're going to be violent and the cops are going to be there a lot one way or another.

I'm general I'm in favor of schools being located near a police station or at least some presence for rapid response but I don't know about anything extra
