Yes I agree 100%. I disagree w Menina, talking about no other race has had to endure what blacks have. What about Native Americans who were forced to give up their land? Forced to move to reservations as early as the 1600s. Forced to go to school, couldn’t speak their tribal languages. Parents thrown in jail if their children didn’t go to school or church. Many of them were forced to give up their religion, their culture. As a matter of fact there’s a Pueblo revolt day. The day Pueblo Indians fought back against Spanish colonization. Where’s my reparations? All the treaties that were signed w native tribes that were never fulfilled. Yes I’m native. But you don’t see me out there acting like a fool. Only about 6% of slaves came to America, the rest were sent to other countries. I know other native tribes enslaved other tribes. Just like other tribes in Africa who rounded up people from other tribes then sold them to the slave trade. If they’re going to talk about reparations, they need to start from the source. The source being the other African tribes who rounded them up to begin w.
No ONE said that you had to agree with me. You're FREE to DISAGREE.
I DO know that Native Americans were deeply affected by colonialism. I AM NOT by ANY MEANS diminishing the suffering and the violence that Native Americans went through. What happens is that this question is about black people.
Also, I said NOTHING about reparations. I'm NOT expecting any reparation, I NEVER asked for any reparation and I NEVER will.
The United States weren't the only country that had slaves. I was talking about slavery in general, not just in the US. I'm NOT from the United States.
@menina ok but you’re saying no other group of people other than Africans were enslaved for that long, lost their language, their culture, their land, etc, etc. That’s why I responded the way I did, cause what you’re saying isn’t true. They weren’t the only ones.
@menina ok so don’t make a broad statement that no other group of people ever went through the same thing. You’re not from the US like you said, so you have no idea of what goes on in regards to a lot of people in our country, especially on the reservations.
Again, I DID NOT said that black people were the only ones to be enslaved. If you read my answer, you'll see that.
No, I don't know what's going in the reservations. But I do know that Native Americans suffered and faced a lot of violence. Like I've said before, I AM NOT diminishing the suffering of Native Americans.
Also, slavery didn't just happen in the United States, that's what I meant. Like I've said, I was talking about slavery in general.
@menina I know that. I read what you said about blacks not being the only race to be enslaved. But what I’m getting at is that you said no other race has been through what blacks have been through. Which is completely untrue.
@menina ok. No use explaining things to you.
That's stupid and I bet John Krasinski would be upset using his image for this meme.
The fact is that racism still exists all over the world and it is not just a feeling people have but something they implement.
As long as there is a majority, many within that majority will seek to oppress the minority. That's because there is always an "us and them" mentality which often translates into an "us versus them" mentality as in "We can't let them get the upper hand over us." This is human nature for as long as there will be humans.
The GOP's current racism employs The Great Replacement Theory, an incarnation of this fact.

Beale - he'd be a Republican if he was an American.
I absolutely disagree with this. Yes, Black people weren't the only ones who were enslaved.
However, no other race was enslaved for 500 years, stripped from their land, forced to forget their language, their traditions, their culture, their religion and still had to fight for their independence. No other race is still dealing with the consequences of slavery and colonialism.
That's what racists don't get it.
And yet black people are still enslaved to this day in Africa. I wonder what skin colour the people who are enslaving them have 🤔
You could say that about women too. lol Women keep complaining they are held back when there is no reason why a woman cannot do what a man can do today.
I think this is insensitive since you cannot know what others feel--only yourself.

I agree. Slavery affected the whole world throughout history it's just that Americans only really care about American history, and really a shallow version of history we get taught in grade school. If you dig a little deeper you realize Africa is a huge continent that had warring tribes/groups who enslaved each other and sold those slaves to the white man.
Other than that white groups like the Irish weren't treated particularly well in America, and not all slaves were treated poorly and not anywhere near all white people actually owned slaves. In fact so many white people were against slavery it got abolished.
So I don't really get what the deal is.
If you said there was one country that can’t quite escape its past, I’d say you are correct.
The fact of the matter is, YES slavery ended though we have to look at sharecropping, Jim Crow, KKK, Wrongful Convictions of African Americans in the deep south, Lynching, White Jurors letting go of White Male Criminals, etc.
Just a small thing to consider, “those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it”.
Racism still exists, persists, and won’t die out doesn’t justify the behavior. Justifying the behavior is a slippery slope back to the dark ages.
Black people today in major US cities have slaves, sex slaves that they prostitute for money. Nothing much is said and nothing much is done about in. No one calls out the modern day slavery, we use nicer words like “trafficked”. They are slaves.
All peoples have been enslaved at some point I'd agree. Serfs were slaves and were transferred as land was transferred.
I disagree with race mostly - there are peoples, phenotypes, and cultures but race has no real meaning. Usually it is just forming a distinct category of people from somebodies view is all.
They are not a race... they are part of a religious group.
They've never been enslaved in Egypt; and only the Nobility and Priestly class got sent into Babylonian exile where they invented their new religion.
Race is a 17th century pseudo-scientific theory to define humans by physical appearance. It is a defunct concept yet a widely followed construct. It is a convenient way to divide people into tribes that are easier to control by the political overseer class. There is one race, Homo Sapiens.
Nonsense. I don't see Nigerians or Zambians bitching about the treatment of black people in America; they just go on and live their lives.
Or did you forget that black people aren't confined to one country?
I know a lot of jews that don't talk about their persecution in Egypt. Even if they celebrate the passover they don't really get too into what they are celebrating.
it makes a point that gets people arguing...
Perhaps true, but used as an anti-Black narrative by white supremacists.
I mostly agree yes some people like playing the victoms to much now days I think it's because they don't know history or something 🤔
100% agree. Black people are the only ones still crying about slavery as if slavery started 300 years ago in America.
And that race is still enslaved en masse in their continent of origin.
They're trying to get reparations (money). You would too if you're people were smart enough to ask for them. 😂
isn't that the guy who was on The Office?
Not with a ten foot pole.
