I don’t care. Really don’t care.
But one thing I do find ironic with religious “freedom” to wear hijabs. Hijabs and burqas are mandated via the Q’ran because a woman’s body is meant to be “for her husband’s eyes only”. Thats is actually not a bad concept in principle. But that’s another discussion.
Ironically women with head coverings was supposed to be a Christian thing. Apostle Paul gave this command in 1 Corinthians 11:2-16. Yet mainstream modern Christianity has never forced this on women. If they did, then how would feminists and progressives react towards it?
It’s just so ironic how atheists and progressive feminists are quick to point the finger at Judaism/Christianity as “oppressive” to women and yet are much more hesitant to criticize Islam (if they criticize at all).
Now why is that?
Its all different flavors of misogyny to me. Its bullshit bevause it originates from fucked up ancient books
Well feminists are now supporting Hamas. Not to mention “Gays for Palestine”. Netanyahu said it perfectly: “it’s like seeing chickens support KFC”.
Islam by far oppressed women more then any other culture on planet earth. But I usually hear crickets for criticism when it comes to progressives on this.
Cuz in a large majority of cases its cultural not the local translation of the Koran.
You also forget the treatment of Orthodox jewish women, nuns, the post classical era Catholic church. There are no innocents here
STOP CONFLATING PALESTINIANS AND HAMAS!! THey are not the same!!
@Dongie huh?
Then why do the vast majority of Palestinians still support Hamas?
Now I KNOW that not every Palestinian is a Hamas terrorist nor is every Hamas terrorist and/or supporter a Palestinian. But we got protestors right here in America (some of them violent) who are OPENLY SUPPORTING F*CKING HAMAS. It’s horrifying and disgusting. And democrats are always slow to call that bs out or worse they try to white wash it (oh their just “upset”) or some bs.
Vast majority? Source please!
Yes. There are extremists supporting hamas. There are always loonies and theyre the ones who get the clicks and eyeballs from our corporate profit driven media. Surely you realize this?
Which Democrats? Source please
Say @DrPepper12, do registered democrats have a pay distribution for all loyal demos?
With all that money pouring in, freshly cleaned from the Ukraine, I figure you all probably have a nice check coming.
@Dongie you know they got paid influencers on social media. Lots of them. Both domestic and abroad. Hostile governments like Russia, Iran and ESPECIALLY China are doing all they can to manipulate this election. They don’t want to deal with a president that has the stones to stand up to them (Trump). Also countries like Venezuela are enjoying emptying their prisons and sending their violent criminals here. Easy peasy with the open border.
@Dongie and they call conservatives a “threat to democracy”.
@Dongie and now they are calling JD Vance “weird” while pushing trans surgery and puberty blockers on children (not all democrats believe in that sh*t but a scary percentage of them support it).
It’s funny how the mass media is trying to fixate on JD Vance now because they have run out of ammo (literally and figuratively) to fire at Trump. I don’t remember the mass media fixating on Harris in the 2020 campaign. And she’s has been the true president for most of Biden’s campaign.
@Dongie I agree he was a mistake. Trump got overconfident after the assassination attempt.
He can still win though. The focus needs to be ON Kamala’s radicalism and failures. The mass media has completely white washed and covered up all her bs.
@Dongie No but where do i sign up? I could use the $!!
The CIA, FBI, DHS, INTERPOL, "Five Eyes" all say that those actors are interfering on behalf of trump.
Source for Venezuela assertion?

@Dongie @DrPepper12. None bias source here (well they are all bias but this was balanced). But evidence points to a strong possibility cis.org/.../Venezuela-Sending-Violent-Criminals-United-States
I honestly don't see why it's an issue.
It's not like it's a competitive advantage in any way, if anything it's probably a hindrance in some capacity for a lot of events. I don't know if France has it written in their constitution for religious acceptance so maybe there's some technicality there but it definitely seems strange for a country as far on the left as France and Macron.
The Olympics in general allow no jewelry but this is French specific so I don't know.
They as a country allow and welcome consistent disgusting and pathetic displays/behaviors as a country but draw the line here?
France is the Western example for everything you do not want in a country.
Their country, their rules. Plus most sports have standardised rules for what costumes are allowed and what isn't, which Muslim garbs would fly in the face of (meaning either a religious exemption for those players which is unfair on everyone else, or they would be pressured to resign or conform)
It's also not at all a question of freedom as they are not required to compete in the French Olympics, and only have to abide by their rules if they willingly enter. And that's not getting into the very real fact that in the vast majority of Muslim countries... It's not a choice for the women to wear those things. They are forced to, either by written law or societal shunning.
I don’t see why they shouldn’t be allowed to wear a hijab. As long as it’s not the dangly flow fabric that can pose a risk, all is good. There’s no magical advantage by wearing a hijab.

The restriction only applies to French athletes participating of behalf of France.
France is strict on when it comes to government backed institutions, as it hold so in there constitution of keeping religion and out of government. Its not as if they are singling out one religion when it comes this.
Not everything is an attack on peoples individual rights.
As others have said it's up to France to make their own rules. I don't think the hijab should be given special treatment from other religious symbols or clothing though. Like if France says they want to keep it secular there should be no reason for backlash when hijabs are included in that rule.
People should be allowed to wear whatever their religion requires.
I must admit, though. I never understood why so many religions have dress codes that clearly identifies what religion the person belongs to. Freedom of religion to me is similar to the secret ballot... I don't advertise who I voted for, nor what religion I belong to.
It’s France, it’s their country, their rules.
its a larger thing than sport.
I get that, their house, their rules but it just seems petty and unnecessary. I defer to your wisdom reluctantly
I think they should be able to wear the hijab. It's part of their religion and culture, so it should be respected.
I totally disagree with the "assimilation" part. That sounds like colonialism to me.
Yes. Freedom of religion. There’s no performance or safety issue to justify disallowing.
What about "hosts rules" argument?
Like how my host’s rule are girls can’t wear pants inside the house? The don’t host an international event.
Their country, their rules. France is free to ban hijabs.
Yes. Reluctantly i agree. Its just so extra
french muslim athletes, no
athletes from places like saudi arabia, yes
Interesting. Why?
The can wear hijab and come last if they really want to. Looking forward to swimming events.
It's mandated by Islamic law to wear hijab. I think it should be allowed on principle of freedom.
France has a huge immigration problem, but denying people the freedom to openly practice their religion is messed up.
Eeh, they're afraid of being bombed.
I didn't vote, as I'm afraid of being bombed.
@dongie Sometimes you are just too funny for words!
And so I shall

Other people have homes and property around the lake, but there are no close neighbors. It's big enough that all the neighbors kayak on it and some wakeboard, as well as swimming. Right now it is covered with lily pads from the shore to about 10' out and we have to wade through them to swim. The house isn't very nice, but the property is beautiful.
Huh?
About the house?
Yes, and a muskrat has a den right in front of the living room windows. Sometimes deer swim across the lake instead of walking around... I never knew they did that kind of thing. They get out right in front of us and wander off somewhere. Got 3 Sandhill Cranes that live in our side yard. Don't need to go on vacation anywhere!
