She is half Indian and half Jamaican. She was picked for VP because she claimed she was black. Is she Vice President under false pretenses? Should she be running for president?

1 yA lot of racial identity in this country comes down to how you’re treated by others, what someone “presents as.”
My lady is half-white/half-Latina (Puerto Rican), but she LOOKS Puerto Rican. Her life experience has been shaped by that presentation. Other Latinos walk up and speak Spanish to her without knowing her, she just looks the part. Even with her own family, growing up, she felt like she was treated differently by some of the white side of her family, compared to her younger sister, who looks more white (actually kind of vaguely Asian too, lmao, not sure why😂).
They moved to a mostly-white suburb outside of NYC, and she got by because she was good looking, but the kids made jokes about her, especially in months where she’d have a tan, and they’d call her “Shaniqua”, saying she looked Black (she doesn’t at all). She laughed along with it at the time, but it always bothered her and made her feel “different”, despite still being popular. White dudes trying to holler at her with cheesy Spanish lines, calling her “mami” and all that. Not something she made a scene about, but it just always really affected her, being singled out like that.
The sister was probably less popular because she didn’t have the same looks going for her, but she was accepted as “white”, and her sister was even using makeup to lighten herself in hopes of fitting in better. This is all shit that doesn’t even have to cross the minds of white people in America, we don’t deal with this due to social power dynamics. And if we do, it’s almost certainly without real impact, again, due to social power dynamics.
So my point is, whatever she is, she presents as “not white”, and that’s a BIG thing in this country, courtesy of white people. White people really seem to care about that, as much as they claim the opposite. And as a result of that, “not white” people will have their own perceptions altered. It would be great if we lived in a world where no one cares and we just wheeled out candidates we thought were of good quality, but that’s not the world we’re in. And worse, people aren’t really up front about it, they’ll of course TELL YOU it’s something else about them that offends them, but most even minorly mentally competent people can see right through that.
I remember seeing pictures of people hanging effigies of Obama back when he first got in office, and I’m preeeetttttttyyyyyyy sure that’s a good indicator that maybe it’s not just objections to the Affordable Care Act that bothered them about Obama. And with him, if he wasn’t Black, they were leaning into his name not being “Mike Williams” or something “American-sounding”, and freaking out that his middle name was Hussein, which Trump still loves to dog-whistle his audience with to this day, usually to roaring applause. They’d sort of try to make it political, but I’m just not stupid enough to buy that race wasn’t a factor…. and his “other half” was white. But I think most people wouldn’t mistake him for a white guy based on his physical appearance.
Kamala is half-Indian, and half-Jamaican. Many, if not most Jamaicans I’ve known, do not call themselves Black outright, they’re very specific that they’re Jamaican. But they “present”, most of the time, as Black, as white people and maybe others see it.
Slightly different due to Latino culture, but I remember when the Red Sox had David “Big Papi” Ortiz, a Dominican…. I can’t tell you how many times over the course of his career that I heard white people expressing confusion, because he spoke Spanish and was clearly Dominican, “but he looks like a Black guy.” White people aren’t always great with categorizations of people, haha. That could extend beyond white people, but we always have to remember that in America or any white-dominated culture, it’s more potentially impactful coming from us than vice-versa.
Anyway, however she chooses to self-identify is her own business. Some people think Jamaican is “Black”, some don’t. She doesn’t deny being half-Indian. Either way, she’s our “least-white” serious presidential candidate to date. I wish that meant nothing, but it still does mean something, so it has to be considered as a factor, and yes, spun to her advantage sometimes. And her name is Kamala Harris, not Chandrika Singh, so maybe in her experience, she’s been treated as a Black woman by others, and that’s become an identity for her, more so than her Indian side. I can’t say for sure, that’s something she’s have to detail. But that would probably be my guess.
If we don’t want the focus to be on race, maybe lay off the “DEI hire” talk, and assuming anyone with a good job who isn’t white and/or a man must be inherently less qualified than someone who is, and that the history of jobs previously being staffed by white people and/or men isn’t necessarily indicative of built-in aptitude, and is much more a result of white people, particularly white men, have had far superior access to opportunities, in a variety of ways I won’t even spend another 1,000 words detailing, haha. White men have been looking out for other white men for a long time, and we’re still in the beginning phases of that rightfully changing. But that dynamic doesn’t exist because “white men are better at doing stuff.”
330 Reply- 1 y
It is the democrats that make a big deal about race. They hire according to race. Not just in government but in business and academia. Senator Elizabeth Warren was hired to the faculty of Harvard University not for her academic status but because she said she was a Native American which actually turned out to be a lie.
When it came time for Joe Biden to choose a VP he said he would pick a woman of color. He really had two choices. Kamala Harris who is the most disliked person in politics and Stacey Abrams who is so crazy that the squirrels are after her. He picked Kamala so at least he would have some protection against the 25th Amendment. She was actually chosen under false pretenses'. - 1 y

You can’t see that all these things are RESPONSES to unprovoked and unwarranted discrimination originating from white people? Nobody wanted to have Affirmative Action, or to need a Civil Rights Act, or even an Emancipation Proclamation. All of those things had to happen because white people were racist FIRST. This is the whole issue I have with the right wing, that we have to historically drag them kicking and screaming into the future as they freak out and yell that the old way was better. But it always turns out they were wrong. Whether they were called Democrats or Republicans at different points in history is whatever, I’m just talking right wing conservatism, free of any other label. Modern day Republicans seem to want credit for ending slavery, and it’s laughable. So, minus the labels, conservatives, at least on a social level, are, as one of my old teachers in high school you to call people sometimes, “a torpedo to the ship of progress.”
If you guys think I’m on here up in arms and churning out thousands of words a day on here, it’s not because of tax policy or big vs small government, those are the “normal” issues I hope and pray we one day get back to. I didn’t even get involved with politics back then. But I see what’s going on the last near-decade and I’m just like “Holy shit, five alarm fire” - 1 y
@DrPepper12 cheers, brotha🙏
- 1 y
Oh, and I didn’t really address the bulk of your response, my bad.
Liz Warren…. I don’t know the full story with that, I can believe she put that she was Native American on her application, but I don’t know for sure that it was dishonest or if she believed that to be true at the time. I’ve met SO MANY white people who like to claim they’re part Native American to seem more ethnically interesting….. and it’s ALWAYS Cherokee, lmfao. That’s when I know they’re full of shit😂 But anyway, if she did that, shame on her. I don’t hate Harvard for looking to diversify their faculty, you want as many different identity perspectives as possible at an academic institution.
My whole problem with all of these arguments is that the unspoken part is “…. and I’m afraid white people will lose something as a result”, and to be honest, I’m just not that worried for most white folks in America in that regard, not relative to everyone else, anyway. I feel like white people HATE that they don’t have it as bad or that the social dynamics are rightfully not a 1-for-1 comparison, like that’s VERY frustrating for some of us. Some folks want it to be like “well we both called each other a racial slur, so we’re even”, but you know it just isn’t the same thing. - 1 y
White folks want a pride month or some kind of parade SO bad, but don’t realize those things only are needed because some of us and those before us have created a social climate where one of those other groups are seen as “different” than normal, and those groups have been made to feel ashamed of themselves or feel inferior…. this necessitating pride movements of whatever sort. If people weren’t racist or homophobic or whatever in the first place, there ISN’T any Black History Month, there ISN’T any LGBTQ Pride Parade. There’s no chicken-or-the-egg thing here, unprovoked and unwarranted racism/homophobia are the root cause. We’ll need centuries of white people facing real and true oppression in the way they’ve subjected others to it before white people start getting sympathy, lmao.
As for Kamala, I don’t think there’s just ONE best person to be the VP. I’m not sure there’s always just ONE person who could successfully be the President, I think we overhype that position.
So, if Biden decided to go with a half-Jamaican/half-Indian woman, elected to AG in the biggest state, elected to the US Senate also from the biggest state, so again, if Biden purposely went outside of “white guy” for VP, for what, the third time in the nearly 250 year history of the nation, I’m not going to worry about the white unemployment rate😂😂😂 They don’t pick a running mate off of the unemployment line, lmfao, they’re usually already a governor, a senator, cabinet member of another administration, etc. They’ll be fine. - 1 y
Always remember: when things get purposely diversified, it’s always because it was previously purposely NOT diversified in the past. These are temporary remedies until the white majority figures out how to not be bigoted, outwardly or secretly. The faster white people get their collective shit together on that front, the sooner we won’t need these things to ensure everyone gets a fair shake. After the history; and honestly still the present, of this country, I am absolutely comfortable with white people maybe not catching some breaks that we historically have, for a little while, until things even out, but that will likely last the rest of our lifetimes until wiser younger generations take over.
- 1 y
@WhiteSteve. Yes, Holy shit,5 alarm fire indeed. I did the same thing. Raised a family, worked on ad advancing my career and ran marathons. Now I see public school students who can barely write a complete sentence, roads and bridges crumbling despite the highest road taxes in America , crime in my neighborhood and hundreds of unvetted illegal aliens living walking distance from my house. I can see that the adults have to take control.
- 1 y
@Juxtapose
“And you completely ignore how Kamala Harris uses her racial identity in a sociopathic manner. She never identified as being black before.”
She went to Howard University, an HBCU (arguably the most prestigious), and was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, a sorority for Black women. She’s almost 60, so I’d imagine this was a good 40 years ago. So the whole “she’s only identified as Indian in the past” thing doesn’t really stand up to scrutiny. - 1 y
@Juxtapose who are “you guys?” I’m an independent, I don’t think independents are leading any charges dealing in deliberately low-expectations. If I have low-expectations of anyone, it’s white people, on a character level, which, as I said, causes the entire root problem that any of these things aim to rectify.
- 1 y
No, in her entire political career before now she has referred to herself as Indian and used that to her advantage. Jamaican blacks don't usually refer to themselves as the same way as American blacks do.
Now that it is convenient for her, she wants to take on the African-American identity. , It's obvious.
ca-times.brightspotcdn.com/.../ - 1 y
@WhiteSteve you're a disgusting racist because you are judging white people on a level beyond their melanin levels dealing with sunlight. That is racist.
- 1 y
You know Biden passed a huge infrastructure bill to repair all those crumbling roads and bridges you’re worried about, right? And then Senators and Reps who voted against it were repeatedly out there at all kinds of ribbon-cuttings for projects funded by it, mostly by countless Republicans, but even some Democrats, like Ayanna Pressley here in Mass. So I don’t blame crumbling roads and bridges on the Democrats.
Crime is something I just simply don’t worry about. You can’t wake up every day constantly looking over your shoulder for criminals, that’s no way to live. The violent crime rate is down these days, but don’t tell Fox News, lmao. They’ll claim it’s really up but not being reported, even though those very crime statistics would have to be reported to get funding from the state for their department. It doesn’t behoove any law enforcement agency to do that, monetarily. And remember, or I guess at least “think of”, the seemingly apparent fact that most people in lines of work like that trend conservative, it’s not like the police department is run by liberals who want to paint a dishonest picture of the state of society. - 1 y
I don’t want to hear a PEEP about anything border-related from Republicans after THEY killed a border bill (JUST dealing with border security, no comprehensive immigration reforms were put into the bill, it was strictly more agents, more judges, more Fentanyl detection technology, and no sneaky omnibus bill provisions…. STRAIGHT BORDER SECURITY, and the Border Patrol supported it), all at the behest of God-King Trump, because he didn’t want Biden and the Democrats to get credit or deprive him of his favorite issue to run on. So it’s apparently some dire situation going on at the border that JUST CAN’T wait anymore…. except until next year, when maybe Trump can get the applause. Also please take note that American citizens commit EXPONENTIALLY more crime than these unvetted immigrants, both as a flat number and per capita. There are anecdotal incidents here and there, that are for sure tragic, but there’s no widespread illegal immigrant crime wave going on. It reminds me of when people tried to blame Bob Kraft for Aaron Hernandez, like “if you hadn’t drafted him, he wouldn’t have lived around here, and never would’ve killed anyone from Massachusetts.” Ok, but…. he probably would’ve killed someone elsewhere, wherever else he ended up. And if we don’t live there, we probably aren’t manufacturing that kind of outrage, and claiming “this Texan would still be alive, if not for Jerry Jones drafting him to the Cowboys.” Everybody loves to point a finger when shit goes wrong, but it’s not always warranted.
- 1 y
And man, I saw you on here the other day saying you’re worth multi-millions if you count your property assets…. you’re doing GREAT, man, and congratulations, but don’t saddle others with that same standard of success or live in constant fear that someone will take that success away from you. It’s not gonna happen, brotha, you’re sweating for nothing. Wake up and enjoy the fruits of your labor, but don’t project those expectations on anyone else, we’re all on our own journeys, and they won’t all look the same. Not everyone is equally equipped in life, but we don’t need to make it a competition with stark winners and losers, with the winners victory lapping and expressing disdain for the losers, you know?
- 1 y
@Juxtapose Jux, my good man, I’m sorry to have to be the one to inform you that politics are a game, and many, many factors beyond strictly proposed policy are in play.
So yes, if convenient, a politician may lean into some aspect of themselves to give them an edge, there’s going to be gamesmanship and strategy involved. Remember humans are doing the voting, and humans are broadly pretty fucking stupid, lmao.
People voted for Bill Clinton and George W Bush in some part because they thought they were “cooler” than their opponent. They more “felt like they could have a beer with” those guys than George HW Bush and Al Gore/John Kerry, respectively. If you think the average American is sitting there studying up on policy comparisons and analyzing historical political science, you’re living in Fantasy Land.
I see people interviewed at Trump rallies, they have a few slogans and talking points memorized, but their Kryptonite is a follow-up question requiring a substantive and informed answer. And I don’t even say that to single out Republicans or MAGA-enthusiasts, I bet if you interviewed a lot of Democrats, they’d struggle to tell you what policy passed by Biden or proposed by Harris they like. They just probably have a very binary and ultimately uninformed opinion that “Democrats = good, Republicans = bad”, and vice versa for the other side.
Most Americans are absolute fucking morons lmfao, that’s our first mistake, entrusting our citizens with having a voice in important decisions that they end up making based on social peer pressure or who had the funniest bumper sticker slogan🙄🤦♂️ - 1 y
@Juxtapose my judgements of white people are informed by BEING white, and having inside info behind-the-scenes from other white people, who, for my entire life, have regularly revealed themselves to be racist/xenophobic to me, BECAUSE they assume I’m “cool” and they can share their true feelings with me, often without even really knowing me. I’m alarmed at how easily complete strangers have said things like calling basketball “African handball” to me, super casually, with an expectation that I’ll laugh along. It’s not always that specific example, but literally hundreds of times in my life, if not thousands, that white people have revealed they’re TRUE feelings that are behind the polished and sanitized-for-public-consumption dog-whistle opinions. So at some point I have to just believe my eyes and ears and accept that white Americans have a broad problem with racial/ethnic prejudice, like they’re literally TELLING ME. And I’m sure counter-prejudice exists, but I’m not as mad at COUNTER-prejudice. If a bunch of people were hating me for no good reason, I’d be counter-prejudiced too. It’s all ultimately negative, but it all goes away as soon as white people knock it off, collectively. THEN, if there’s lingering now-unwarranted counter-prejudice, at that point I’d be willing to start suggesting that that new group of offenders clean up their own act.
- 1 y
@Juxtapose It also is worth mentioning that, at no point, has Harris’ campaign slogan been “vote for me, I’m black/Indian/not a white guy.” ALLLLLLLLL of the identity stuff came from the right wing, IMMEDIATELY, and bringing up that, in the past, she’s identified as this or that…. and by the way, being biracial is a thing. You’re allowed to claim both, or identify or relate more with one side of yourself, that’s completely legitimate. This whole “is she black or is she Indian?” is something nobody on the left is concerned about. She’s the most sensible replacement nominee because SHE’S ARLEADY THE FUCKING VICE PRESIDENT. But she IS allowed to mention if she’s half-this or half-that, and she really doesn’t. She’s also not denying that she’s half-Indian. Literally the only people I’ve heard even caring about any of this are right wingers, and that’s frankly VERY fucking weird.
If black women are hyped for her, let them be hyped. If she comes out at any point and tells Indians to fuck off and keep her name out of their mouths as “one of them”, I’ll come back here and tell you you were right, but I don’t think that’ll happen.
And like I said with my own girlfriend, who nobody even knows…she’s always felt more in touch with her Latina side than her white side, BECAUSE OF HOW OTHERS TREATED HER. White people never fully embraced her. TONS of white friends…. but that doesn’t mean you’ve been fully embraced. That’s not for you or me or anyone who isn’t her to critique, that’s HER experience. - 1 y
@Juxtapose Ditto for Kamala and anyone. Obama didn’t run on “hey, I’m a black guy!” either. The right wingers were the ones getting their drawers on a knot over the idea of a not-white person in the Oval Office, yet knew they couldn’t QUITE say that out loud, so they spin it into a story of identity politics.
Again, I feel like white people desperately want to be part of a “special interest group” at the end of the day, and they’re just IMPOSSIBLY frustrated that they can’t get in on that perceived sweet, sweet victimhood🙄🤦♂️😂 - 1 y
@Juxtapose I certainly invite you to link me to copy of the proposed bill and a footnote for the location of the specific Ukraine war provisions that you speak of
- 1 y
@Juxtapose also, I’m not a big war guy, but in the case of Russia vs Ukraine, unless you’re a crazy conspiracy theorist, Putin is clearly the bad guy.
My dad is a STAUNCH Republican, I battle with him all the time, he’s unapologetically prejudiced and at times outright racist. And even HE is voting Harris over Trump, because while he liked a lot of Trump’s fiscal ideas, he hates the isolationism and recognizes America to be the linchpin of order in the world. He thinks Trump is a bozo for showing any deference to Putin, and is afraid he’d do the same with Xi in China over Taiwan. He thinks Trump is an absolute buffoon with his nonsense talk of “I’ll end the war in 24 hours with one phone call.” My dad hates liberalism SO FUCKING MUCH lmfao, and even he recognizes that Trump is an idiotic, malignantly narcisstic, pathologically lying maniac with, in his words, “the vocabulary of a third-grader.” Him telling me he might vote for Biden, and now Harris, just to maintain global military stability, was one of the biggest shocks of my life. When he called me five years ago to tell me my mom had died suddenly, I was less shocked than this”, dead serious. - 1 y
@Juxtapose Jux, that’s literally me, white kid, black neighborhood and schools growing up. I got my share of razzing, but ultimately, I can say that over the course of my life, Black people have shown me WAY more love than white people. I went to a private high school to play football, and it was almost all white. Mostly rich suburban dudes, and then some inner-city Boston Irish kids from places like Southie, if you’ve heard of that neighborhood. Certainly not everyone, but a great deal of them not only said ignorant shit in my presence, but I got a TERRIBLE time from them, getting called a “w*gger” because I liked rap music and hung out with black guys, wore my jeans baggy because it was the mid-90s. White people have been really, really bad to me in some cases. I’m not ready to compare it to genuine racism, but I doesn’t feel good emotionally, so I feel like I at least have a taster-spoonful of a fraction of what other people endure. And when I left, I could still walk in anywhere and get some teenage minimum wage job, “blonde white kid, come on in, welcome to the team, here’s your apron.”
I of course recognize that ANYBODY can be racist. But somewhere in my original comment I already detailed it…. it’s just different. Louis CK had a whole comedy bit about this. “I’m white…. you can’t even hurt my feelings!” and in a sarcastically dejected tone he says “awww, you shouldn’t have called me a cracker. Ruined muh day…”😂 - 1 y
@WhiteSteve Nobody wanted to have Affirmative Action? No, democrats want Affirmative Action to pander for votes. They make everything about race. They give people from certain protected groups special treatment. They jump to the line for government jobs and are given special consideration for Financial Aid in college or for welfare benefits.
Democrats dont care about people , they just care about votes. - 1 y
Politics are a game and both sides pander to certain groups for votes.
My point is that all of these regulations or laws or whatever exist because of the root cause of racism from white people, or misogyny from men, or homophobia from straight people, etc, etc. Depending on the particular situation, white/male/straight people have the position of power in American society, pretty well baked in. Those groups (which often overlap) are not in need of any assistance in American society as it stands today, the very nature of who they relative to where they live all but assured them that they’ll probably make it, and if they don’t make it, it wasn’t because of who they are demographically.
Everybody else is on an uphill climb. We all have struggles, but they have more, and they’re often struggles beyond their control. So until white people/straight people/men knock it the fuck off and we can trust them, here we are. But white people/straight people/men shouldn’t complain, because that’s who created this dynamic in the first place, and are the ones perpetuating it. I don’t think acknowledging that there are problems in this country with racism and acting to combat it through law and regulation is “making everything about race.” People being racist, or if you prefer, “prejudiced”, are the ones making things about race. Blame the cause, not the effect. - 1 y

The only problem i have with her legitimacy as a candidate is that NOBODY voted for her. The lefties have a lot of ignorant crap to say about how and why righties like Drumpf, but they don’t actually have better reasons for liking their offerings. At least republicans chose Drumpf. Jamaica is in America and her ancestry is African so she is definitely not African American.
I totally agree she is also not black because there is no such thing as someone having two races.

1 yNot technically, certainly not in the American sense, and she is NOT an African American Her father is ½ Jamaican, ¼ white English, and ¼ white Irish. While her mother is a full blooded Indian immigrant. Both of her parents were upper-middle class professionals, and earned substantial income, meaning she was a child of wealth and privilege. Vice President Harris’ mother, Shyamala Gopalan-Harris was a breast cancer researcher. She was born in India and moved to the United States to pursue her doctoral studies at the University of California, Berkeley at age 19, where she earned a PhD in nutrition and endocrinology. Her research made significant contributions to our understanding of breast cancer, leading the way to a possible future cure for breast cancer!
Het father, Donald J. Harris is ½ Jamaican, ¼ white Irish, and ¼ white English, and was an economist and an economics professor emeritus at Stanford University. Born in Jamaica, he moved to the United States for graduate studies and earned a PhD in economics. His academic work has focused on economic development, and he has published numerous articles and books in the field.
Kamala grew up in a very affluent area in Canada, and graduated Westmount High School in Westmount, Quebec, Canada, in 1981. She attended this high school after moving to Montreal with her mother and sister following her parents’ divorce, in 1971when she was 7 years old, meaning she speaks French as that is the official language of Quebec.
Kamala Harris attended Howard University for her undergraduate studies. Howard University is a historically Black university located in Washington, D. C. She graduated in 1986 with a degree in political science and economics. 5 years before Tupac released his first album in 1991. Kamala Harris received her Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1989. Which negates her story on the Charlemagne The God podcast that she used to sit around and get high listening to Tupac, because Tupac released his first album a full two years after she graduated law school, and was practicing law by the time his 1st album was released. Why lie about something so insignificant, and why brag that she got high on marijuana, when she prosecuted and imprisoned others for doing the same thing! Kamala Harris failed her bar exam the first time. That’s not a bad thing per se, about half of California's law school graduates fail the California bar the first time, making her in the bottom of 50% of qualified attorneys in the state of California. Traditionally attorney's who failed the bar in California practice, personal injury, law, and do not go on to legal greatness! They certainly do not go on to be the Attorney General of the Nation’s largest State. It is well known that her then boyfriend Willie Brown, who is the mayor of San Francisco at the time, was instrumental in securing her the position of district attorney of San Francisco, and introduced her to the Democrat powerbrokers of San Francisco, including Gavin Newsom went on to help secure her position in the democrat primary against the sitting attorney general of California.

Additionally, when Kamala Harris was running for attorney general, she was proud of the fact that she was “The first South Asian-American Attorney General of the state of California”. also, when she was running for the Senate, she ran as an Indian-American, and stated that she was proud to be the first Indian-Americans senator. in fact, the first time, Kamala Harris publicly stated that she was Black was when she began to campaign in the Democratic primary for President of the United States. So is she black? Yes, she is ¼ Black, ½ Indian, and equally ⅛ White Irish, and White English. However, she has lived her entire life and career stating that she is Indian-American. It makes me wonder why now she is so adamant that she is Black, giving the impression that she is African American, when she is not. Also why not embrace the fact that she is multi-racial, and has a diverse family background and history?

I personally don't care about her ethnicity or religion. I only care about her politics. Which suck. Her ability is not convincing. Whilst her moral compass bends, depending on the popular opinion in the moment. As a pose to taking a humanitarian or fair approach.

Kamala Harris has achieved numerous significant accomplishments throughout her political career:
As District Attorney of San Francisco (2004-2011), Harris established a program to give first-time drug offenders the chance to earn a high school diploma and find employment, which became a national model.
As California Attorney General (2011-2017), she won a $20 billion settlement for Californians whose homes had been foreclosed on and a $1.1 billion settlement for students and veterans taken advantage of by a for-profit education company. She also defended the Affordable Care Act in court.
In the U. S. Senate (2017-2021), Harris championed legislation to fight hunger, provide rent relief, improve maternal healthcare, expand access to capital for small businesses, and combat climate change. She questioned two Supreme Court nominees while on the Judiciary Committee. - 1 y
As Vice President (2021-present), Harris has led efforts to protect voting rights, women's reproductive freedoms, and gun safety. She set a new record for most tie-breaking votes cast by a Vice President, including the decisive vote to pass the Inflation Reduction Act. Harris also presided over the confirmation of the first Black woman to the Supreme Court.
In SF as DA:
Harris initiated an anti-truancy program in 2008 that threatened to prosecute parents whose children chronically missed school. This was controversial, as it could potentially lead to jail time for parents.
She declined to pursue the death penalty for a gang member who shot a San Francisco police officer, showing her opposition to capital punishment as DA.
Harris advocated for youth diversion initiatives and bias training for law enforcement.
She positioned herself as a "get-it-done" progressive, focusing on bringing law and order to the streets while emphasizing personal responsibility.
Under her tenure, property crime in San Francisco decreased from 39,384 reported crimes in 2003 to 33,200 in 2010.
Harris pushed for programs that helped people find jobs instead of putting them in prison, reflecting her "smart on crime" approach.
But wait! there's more!!!
As CA AG:
California Homeowner Bill of Rights: Harris championed this legislation, which provided homeowners with protections against unfair foreclosure practices
Criminal Justice Reforms: She launched initiatives to reduce recidivism, including programs focused on implicit bias training for law enforcement and a statewide body camera program
Environmental Initiatives: Harris defended California's environmental laws, including the state's cap-and-trade program and Low Carbon Fuel Standard, and reached settlements with major oil companies over violations of state laws
Death Penalty: Although personally opposed to the death penalty, she defended its constitutionality in court, arguing for its legal review.
Come back if you need more!

@strateguy632 *woman *woman
@DrPepper12 Amen! 🙏🏼 - 1 y
@DrPepper12 Most of her so called accomolishments were part of her socialist agenda. She is part of the problem and not part of the solution. Protect voting rights is just another way to say she made it easier to cheat. Gun safety is another way to say that she wants to repeal the second amendment. She presided over the nomination of the first black woman to the Supreme Court. That is a great accomplishment considering she could not define what a woman is. This shows race bias which is really the basis of most of her so called accomplishments.
During the last 3 years she had one major task to accomplish. To secure the southern border. She failed miserably. President Trump left a "how to" blueprint on how to do it and she couldn't even figure that out. Instead she visits Guatamala and tells them all not to come ro America. Anyone with half a brain could have predicted how ineffectual that approach would be. She lied to the whole country for over 3 years by telling the public that Joe Biden had all his marbles. He was as sharp as ever and does more in one hour than most people do in a day. She cannot be trusted and put party ahead of country. As president she would divide this country more than it is now

I totally agree. The oresidency is a black job and that’s why it’s not fair that he can’t win the election

1 yshe's mixed race so she goes both ways for whatever is convenient.
But she is not living the inner city black life others are traumatized by. Whether she can relate to such amd so anything beneficial for them without damaginf rest od society is tge question.
Videos I've seen show not everyone approves od her but some do see her as black.30 Reply
1 ySo let me see if I have this straight:
If you put black makeup on your face, that's racist and you're demeaning black people.
If you wear your hair in braids, that's racist and you're demeaning black people.
If you are a white chick and claim you're black you're ostracized.
HOWEVER,
If you are a democrat politician and claim to have hot sauce in your purse because that's what one of your handlers told you that's what black people stereotypically do, that's not racist.
If you are a democrat politician and fake a black southern accent in Atlanta, that's not racist.
If you're a democrat politician who ran as the first "Indian American" woman, you can now claim you're black and that's not racist.
I think I understand.35 Reply- 1 y
@Yabbut If I wrote it as a screenplay it would be rejected for being too outlandish.
- 1 y
What if you're a pale stale male who cakes his face in bronzer and looks like an orange oompa loompa? What then?
- 1 y
I think the one screenplay that would have been rejected was the 2000 election. It was so unusual that Hollywood could have never come up with that script. His brother Governor of one state deciding to tip the scales for his brother in another state? Scotus stopping a recount and throwing the election?
- 1 y
@DrPepper12 I think you have a crush on Trump
Anonymous(30-35)1 ya lot of people don't know that. the naive ones think OH BLACK AND A WOMAN, VOTING FOR HER (if she was gay, omg...) without even thinking twice about her campaign or what kind of president she'd be. we are doomed if she wins. and this is coming from a woman...

m 1 yWhy is colour such a major thing over in the US. We had Sunak who was of Indian descent his parents coming from East Africa, no one really gave a toss about his skin colour, it’s if they are crap or not crap at their job. Do people have to have a skin colour test just to see if they are black 100% or maybe only 45% ?
13 Reply- 1 y
The same people who make this stupid argument are the ones who "claim" their Scottish/Irish roots from 10 generations it's nonsensical crap
- 1 y
Ethnicity and other “identifying” factors were more recently established than most countries. And then there’s the whole history of the genocide of Native Americans while importing a slavery class from Africa, emancipation, Jim Crow, establishment of civil rights…which is currently going backwards. It’s our history that makes it a big deal even though it isn’t morally right. At least, that’s my take on it.
- 1 y
USA Americans are fucking nuts thats all. Racist cockwombles they are!!
5.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Her Jamaican half is at least part African. But she plays up her "African" roots to get preferential treatment and pander to African-Americans.

What preferential treatment did she got

1 yShe is the race she most identifies with. Barack Obama is biracial but identifies as black.
She is indeed multiracial but presents as black so I can see why she identifies as that.
Frankly I think she is very poised and well-spoken. I like what she has to say and I’m not afraid to admit that. 🤷🏻♀️00 Reply 5.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. She claims to be whatever is politically expedient for her at the time. When she was running in California, she did everything possible to make sure people knew she was Indian/ "South Asian."
She has nothing more than intersectional checkboxes to fall back on, because everything of actual value in this race is completely against her, just like it was when she was running against other Democrats.

Your argument is for after election. People voted for her but she said that so the election was a false pretensse.
4.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. You can see the shift and how she refers herself to an Indian in the past and now as a black woman.
17 Reply- 1 y
@exitseven. Why does it matter?
- 1 y
How's your cat?
- 1 y
@DrPepper12 It matters because she shows that she is dishonest by lying about her ancestry just to qualify for a specific job. What else is she lying about? She just said she was never in charge of the border and that she is backpeddling about a lot of issues that she used to be in favor of.
Everything she says is a lie. - 1 y
That's what you're going with? Various media have accentuated either one side of her heritage or the other. How was she responsible for how she was covered?
And for you to call her out for lying when she wasn't lying is really laughable considering that Trump has told over 30,000 lies during his administration. The man can't go a single day without lying!! - 1 y
@DrPepper12 you guys take small exaggerations and call them a malicious lie. I don't buy it.
1 yWell, her heart is black so who knows? Just remember, they said that about Obama too.

1 yHalf ala Barack Obama, but your antidiluvian "one-drop of African blood makes one black" trope (formerly law) forces her to self-identify as black.(Tiger Woods, with about six drops of black blood, is regarded "black" in North America and likely nowhere else.)

If you asked most people who know nothing about her to judge her ethnicity, they'd say "black."
Ethnically, she's half African and half South Asian.
