Americans who were young during the 1970s, does it seem as though young people didn't "go out" as much then as in later decades?

I mean, "dressing up and going out" on Saturday night wasn't as much of a thing back then. I can remember people sitting on a couch, drinking beer, smoking weed, and watching TV. It's my theory that "Saturday Night Live" (not its original name, by the way) would not have begun in today's world. Thoughts?

No, we were always outside playing, hanging out on a porch telling dirty jokes or scary stories for several hours, swimming in my pool, catching lightning bugs, we hardly ever stayed inside in the spring and summer!

"Saturday Night Live" was "Live Saturday Night (Howard Cosell briefly had a show of the same or similar name) when it debuted Oct.11,1975, the day Bill and Hillary Clinton married.

I was 22 in July 1975 and didn't drink (until I was 26), so didn't go out much, as it was the Disco Era and I can't dance and hated the vacuousness which surrounded disco.

Dudes in white suits with cocaine spoons around their neck;women with expensive hand bags and slim, pricey disco dresses, almost always really thin with no boobs (fortunately, I don't remember fat chicks in disco dresses !!!), everybody seeming spaced out from their drug of choice and the d**n strobe lights.(Invented by none other than IKE TURNER !!!)

They went out more, the wasn't cable, Internet, video games, computers, or "smart phones". You had to go outside if you didn't want to watch the same 3 channels on tv

They seemed to have then. It was by the late 70s and early 80s we acted like that.😀
