What does it truly mean to have freedom as an adult?

Until you escape property taxes you really aren't free. You kind of need 5-10 acres of untaxed land to farm on and live your life in a nation with high levels of individual freedom to be somewhat free. That doesn't really exist anywhere in the world. There are a couple nations around the globe that have untaxed property, but they aren't as good on the personal freedom and security as say the USA. If a state were to eliminate property tax like Florida is debating, well then their's your path to freedom.

I guess homeless people are technically free, but at a significant cost to comfort.

Today if I felt like it I could have gotten into my car and driven to Canada. Didn’t have to get any permission and didn’t have to justify my decision.

So freedom to you is having the choice to have choices on your own without any interference of others and their permission because you grant yourself your own permission?

Yep it’s a lack of restrictions and barriers. Having the ability to choose and go do something without being checked and told no

Freedom to me at 28 is making my own decisions and preparing myself for the outcome of that decision rather good or bad. Freedom to me is listening to and following my own voice, intuition and thoughts and not others such as my parents or any older adult who uses the fact they have been alive longer than me as a gateway to control my life. At 28, I have no problem telling or showing my parents what I will and won’t tolerate for myself and how I will lead my own life.
