8 moTo live my life as I see fit.
Freedom really only works long term if you have a moral people. Moral people will use freedom to do good and to invent and achieve their potential in a noble society.
When you have a degenerate, pleasure only seeking society that wants to use freedom to pursue every debase pleasure and who only cares about indulging every twisted thought then society will collapse, like the Romans.
That is why the west is on its last legs.
Society invented television and movies. They turned it into porn and endless violence and promiscuous sex on screen and X-rated pictures. The internet became a thing. Endless knowledge at the touch of the finger. They turn it into endless porn going straight to the home or phone to where it is hard to keep kids from stumbling into it. We have all kinds of medical advancement and drugs and procedures. They turn it into ways to stop pregnancy and kill growing babies now you have entire deranged voting blocks of women obsessed with nothing other than demanding to kill their babies as a form of birth control. The birth rates are plummeting in western countries. You go from having a stable society of marriages and families to threesomes, swingers, situationships, pan, nothing but seeking every perverse form that deviates from the natural good way nature intended. We make drugs to deal with pain and treat recovery and we have a people just addicted to drugs, addicted to alcohol, addicted to porn addicted to chasing every pleasure that isn't good or noble.
Long term, only a moral, wise, noble people can use freedom without destroying themselves.

8 moTotal freedom is being utterly alone. Not influenced by any consideration about or the actions of any other person. The last living thing on Earth. Not even a mosquito can impact you. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Since total freedom is impossible in any society, we are forced to settle for limited freedoms that end at the point where we start to infringe on another person's freedoms and vice versa. We agree to abide by an agreement to limit our own freedoms so that we can coexist with other people who we recognize as having the same rights as we do. Or we fight wars to impose our will on the others to maximize our freedoms and limit theirs. And maybe we die in the process and freedom becomes irrelevant. That is the calculus that keeps society from destroying itself.

u 8 moTotal freedom is an illusion. There are always things in our lives to which we give our allegiance and which guide our actions. Total freedom can happen only if you don't care about anything. I have met a few people who stated that they didn't care about "anything," but they were only trying to fool themselves.

8 moFreedom has to do with awareness. A slave was free to do what he wanted but was not free from the consequences of those actions. Just because we dont have slaves and slave owners doesn't make people free or not free. I mean sure you are free to not work but the consequences today isn't you will be beat for it it's you won't be payed for it... not being payed will cause you to see as beneath everyone else. Freedom is that we are aware you can control things about this life. There are still things you can't control like death. what makes you free from death is to accept it will come and be OK with that. freedom from death wouldn't be fighting it to live forever... so freedom is awareness in my opinion the more aware you are the more freedom you have. We are never free from consequences only how we perceive ideas.

The fear that our choices will enrage someone with enough power over us to have us punished or denied
You can never be truly free until you’re no loner acting out someone else’s designs for your life20 Reply- 6.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
8 moThere cannot be total freedom.
Freedom is limited. And when I claim too much for myself, then someone else's freedom is reduced.
Which then sabotages the ideal of ''freedom'' - it degrades into egocentrism.
For myself, freedom means to have choices that are not (or can't be) manipulated by others.
For sure I can't escape certain things. Where my understanding of' freedom' then evades these things and even may turn ''criminal'' in ''The System's'' eyes.

8 moDo be able to live your life EXACTLY how you want and DO exactly what you want. But of course you can't be going around killing and hurting people. Even if you don't want to, total freedom would give you the ability to do that without consequences. Therefore, I don't think TOTAL freedom is actually achievable.
10 Reply 2.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Freedom is not being forced to go to work with a guy who today dresses up as a woman and demands to be called she/her/it/xyz and use the female bathroom, or you get fired.
Freedom is not having second rate or completely unqualified people in jobs that can kill you like pilots, medical or others, simply because they have a different skin color or sex organs.
Big government run by morons and the corrupt are the threat to freedom today.

8 moTo me I want freedom to breakaway from this diverse western world that has become a cesspit. Democracy died when all our leaders agreed to force their ideals onto the people even When they hated it. if you can't vote for anyone that represents the majority's interests then you live in a elective dictatorship.

8 moFreedom to me is being able to do whatever I want to do without other people interfering. Despite what people currently believe we do not have a lot of freedom in the USA because we are constantly paying off the mob that is the government through "taxes" that go to politicians and lazy people instead of infrastructure.

8 moBeing able to club any willing broad I choose, which would have been denied me were I living in the US until the landmark U. S. Supreme Court Loving vs. Virginia case in which anti-miscegenation (anti-interracial marriage) laws were invalidated June 12,1967, though some racist Southern states had their unenforceable edicts on the books until as late as 2000.(Of course, Mississippi, America's backwards anus.)

8 moTotal freedom is impractical idealism. Humans don't always act with decency or kindness toward each other so the harsh reality is that total freedom would lead to anarchy and social collapse.

8 moWithin reason. They have rules and laws to keep peace. A person cannot just say and do what they please it then infringes on other peoples freedoms.
10 Reply I don't think we can ever be totally free to do what we want to do, there would always be some kind of restriction.
