    Bullshit.

I'm an immigrant to South Africa. I don't expect South Africans to bend their culture to my historical preferences, cultural or otherwise. As a guest in the nation - even if I became a citizen it would be with dual nationality and revokable by South Africa as I wasn't born here - I am expected to conform to the culture of the country, with the possible exception of when the Boks play England at Rugby or the Proteas play England at Cricket.

If ten thousand English arrived at the same time and demanded the local culture conform to theirs that wouldn't be immigration, it would be invasion - armed or not. And if that ten thousand started rioting and looting even South Africa's notoriously slow-to-act system would deport them back to the UK.

It's time the West - especially the USA and UK - get a grip on what's happening. Labour only got in because my dumbass countrymen thought Starmer - the WEF twat - would be different to Sunak - an equally WEF twat. And if the USA actually believes Kameltoe Whorish will do less damage than Trump, given he only gets 4 years and she can rig it for 8, then they're even dumber than the caricatures that have been around since the 70s. At least Trump's not part of the system, although personally if I could vote I'd probably go Kennedy. He at least talks about issues, not how much of a shit the "other" candidate is (mostly).

Funny, I've never been forced to visit a mosque or stop eating pork and drinking beer. How is the local culture being forced "conform to theirs"?

Apologies if you're really referring to Poles in the UK or Turks in Germany, but they're not forcing anyone to go to Mass, either.

Not well... For either side. It did show a nasty two-tier police system in Britain. The cops are so scared of being accused of racism or islamophobia that they barely do anything when the majority are in Palestinian garb and majority male in their 20s, but full riot gear deployed when majority caucasian British families - including kids in pushchairs - turn out to walk through London to demand Khan and Starmer resign over illegal immigrants getting preferential treatment over citizens with regard to housing and benefits.

There's always a minority of both groups that's there to be violent if they get the chance, but it's a big deal which group is mainly met with riot police - and it's not the ones shouting allahakhbar...

Wow. What a load of bullshit. Show me a news report about "mass demonstrations calling for sharia courts in several UK cities", or protests "to demand Khan and Starmer resign over illegal immigrants getting preferential treatment" whether met by riot police or not. Starmer's only been PM for a few weeks, I'm pretty sure I'd have noticed.

Turn off GBNews, it's bad for you.

To an extent. Multiculturalism is a good thing, for the most part. The biggest downside to me is the professional victims calling cultural appreciation “cultural appropriation” and trying to ruin the lives of good citizens. It does frustrate me that my neighbors from Haiti can raise chickens in the city because of their culture, but i can’t because i was born and raised in the US. “There are rights that everyone should have. There are rights that nobody should have. But there should never be rights that only some people have.”

Most definitely because culture history who you are lies dormant within you so it’s ingrained in your being so there’s no way you can take that away from a person. It shows in your skin, your hair color your texture your everything is the essence of your being. You can only adopt what’s going on around you.

Absolutely. It's far less impactful with the US than it would be with Poland, though, since the US is basically a nation of immigrants anyway. The only native people in the US are Native Americans, and they've long been somewhat marginalized (judging by the Wild West stories, it's truly a shame). All in all, it's pretty straightforward that should members of some culture arrive in large enough numbers, they will be far less willing to assimilate, opting for upholding their own culture instead.

Yes, and no. Americans have enslaved Africans, massacred Native Americans, and imprisoned Japanese-American citizens.

There is no single American culture; it has evolved to accept free black people, Irish and Italian immigrants, etc.

Please tell me that Italian immigration didn't bring crime. Does the word Mafia mean anything to you?

First of all, American culture is way more than race and we should really embrace how times have changed in American culture. I grew up in a place where people's skin color did not matter. When my classmate called me and asked for help with what to do in a video game, I did not think about how his family being from Brazil or his skin color when I helped him. I thought about how he treated me. That's part of America! The American melting pot is ideas mattering, not your looks!

You can't have a singular culture for a huge nation. We have almost the landmass of the entirety of Europe, there's going to be a lot of different ideas but they're distinctly American all the same. Texas is bigger than Germany!

Legal immigration has its problems as well and should not be unlimited or unvetted. I have Italian ancestry that consisted of behaved people. Judge people by their record and how they act.

People who immigrated here actually assimilated and integrated fairly harmless customs on average. They did not act like entitled rats, broke the law to get here and then tried the change things to suit their purposes. They were respectful of America.

Not as silly as claiming "People who immigrated here actually assimilated and integrated fairly harmless customs on average." How many of them adopted native American customs? How many of them were brought to the country as slaves?

The only reason they didn't break the law to get there is that there was no law against coming to America until the last century.

And they sure as hell did "change things to suit their purposes".

Trump sent an armed mob to the Capitol to stop the counting of votes, lying about the election and telling them that they wouldn't have a country any more if they didn't stop the count and help traitors in congress to install him as president. Including the word "peacefully" in your speech doesn't absolve you of all the other words and actions. We all saw how "peaceful" it was, and that Trump didn't tell them to go home until the national guard couldn't be held back any more and they'd failed. Since then he's been saying what wonderful people they were, as they're sentenced to up to 20 years for their crimes.

The time to dispute an election is in court, where he lost 60 frivolous cases, and many of his lawyers got disbarred for bringing them.

Well @goaded , that is a bunch of lies. Trump was explicitly peaceful and even had critical reinforcements denied to him by Nancy Pelosi on purpose. Most of the protesters were peaceful and nobody had to be locked up in a bunker like Trump did when people stormed the capital and he was in danger. If that was an armed insurrection, more than just a unarmed protester would have died that day.

And fuck off with that sentencing, a granny was fined over 100,000 dollars for praying 10 minutes near that location and not doing anything else. Kangaroo courts.

@OddBeMe absolutely not. I refuse to define American culture to an American, that's retarded.

No lies. Trump's speech was anything but peaceful, even though he used the word once when telling the armed mob he'd brought to DC that they'd have to fight. Did he think a peaceful protest outside the Capitol would have stopped the count? Of course not.

More lies from you: "when people stormed the capital and [Trump] was in danger". Never happened. Besides, I thought he was "just inspecting" it, "for a tiny, little short period of time", and "There was never a problem … nobody ever came close to giving us a problem."

So, you disagree with Trump about that, who's right?

      edition.cnn.com/.../index.html

As to your "explanation" of what American culture means, apparently it means being in the military.

Joking aside, you did notice the part about "There is no religious requirement to be a citizen of the United States. All of the World's religions are openly and freely practiced here.", while ranting about "foreign cultures inserted into America"?

    What is "American culture"?

Was the culture in 1890 the same as 1850? Was the culture of 1850 the same as 1789?

Was the culture of 1950 the same as 1920?

When you import the third world, you become the third world. America would not evolve to something like a sharia nation on its own unless you imported a fuck time of the third world.

If you imported enough of the cannibalistic tribes of Haiti into the USA, we would become like Haiti. It's really that simple.

@Dongie They're not the ones planning to have the government monitor women's pregnancies. They're not the ones suggesting reducing quality standards for baby formula in the face of shortages. They're not the ones rolling back child labour laws. They're not the ones denying election results. They're not the ones who claim they weren't allowed more attendees at a half empty rally, only for the Democratic nominee to fill it to capacity just a few weeks later. They're not the ones talking about sharks and batteries, thinking Hannibal Lecter is a real person, or thinking asylum seekers are the same thing as people coming from a mental asylum.

      Shall I go on?

Ad hominem. Where are they wrong?

The book written by Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts is totally nutso. They want to eliminate contraception, IVF, and dog parks.
      freethoughtblogs.com/.../

"Vance wrote the foreword to the now-delayed Dawn’s Early Light: Taking Back Washington to Save America, calling Roberts’ ideas an “essential weapon” in the “fights that lay ahead.”"

You may as well. You are the left. You committed voter fraud and stole me vote from me. You laid on a roof to kill Trump after dragging him and his family through court over shit that is so fucking minor up next to Obama, bidens, Clinton's shit and Pelosi with her Wuhan virus.

@Dongie You really don't understand the concept of democratic elections, do you? More people voting against your preference than for it isn't them taking your vote away.

Trump led the first ever attempt of a US president to hold on to power having lost an election. Trump stole documents from the government. Trump falsified documents to conceal his election interference in 2016.

No, that’s called ethno-nationalism and it’s what every dictator time immemorial murdered millions to achieve.

What even is lAmerican Culture”. Define it. Or at least bullet point some traits.

"Ethnic nationalism is a shared ethnic or cultural identity"

That's not inherently harmful, unlike communism but nice try.

I refuse to describe American culture to a fellow American. That's retarded.

Ethnic: "Of or relating to a group of people having common racial, ancestral, national, religious or cultural origins." That's never been the case in the history of the USA, so that leaves "cultural identity".

What's that, then? Hasn't it changed over the last 250 years? Which one do you prefer - slaveholders, frontiersmen, Jim Crow..., or the one where you accept that people are people, and that people should mind their own damn business?

Do you think your idea of America's cultural identity is universal? Lots of Americans think atheists aren't suitable for elected office. Lots of Americans won't distinguish between Bi and Gay men. Lots of Americans think black people are inferior.

Do New Yorkers have the same cultural identity as Texans? Hell, do Dallas, Houston, and Austin Texans all have the same cultural identity as rural Texans or each other?

Do you think you should be allowed to enforce your idea of America's cultural identity on others? That's pretty much the opposite of what most Americans want.

@goaded well as I mentioned, I am for American cultures but not for foreign cultures inserted into America with such huge amounts of immigration, especially the illegal kind!

And don't pretend like Germany doesn't have its own problems with biases. Every country has bigots. In one immigration station in Germany they called a Turkish woman the "n word" after denying her entry.

Foreigners who were willing to assimilate contributed to culture & brought the best of their culture with them. We're being sent the globe's criminals to our southern border right now.

Ninety-four-year-old "Uncle" Thomas Sowell again, as 95% of the time, is, to quote my dearly departed dad , as full of s**t as a Christmas turkey.

Yes Mr Sowell is right, since the Blair Government beginning May 1997 which started pushing "multiculturalism" with a vengeance, which has lead to the current state of affairs we have at the moment, and it is only going to get worse.

Well if you consider your own culture null and void I guess it doesn't matter. To stand up proclaiming your own culture, if a plain white person , then you are a racist. Right liberal?

Multiculturalism is fine so long as the cultures leave peacefully among each other and not expect others to conform to it. This is not what we have been seeing as of late, unfortunately.
