This is grasping at straws at its worst. The bill in question was the Inflation Reduction Act and the provision in question funding IRS investigations don't change the amount of tax owed by anyone, it just enforced existing laws. Tipped income was and is taxable. Yes some people evaded that tax illegally before. Yes that tax primarily affects low income earners. But that tax is legally on the books. Passing a bill that funds enforcing existing laws is not an endorsement of existing laws. The inflation reduction act will still fund the IRS investigating corporations and individuals who illegally evade taxes even if the tax code is amended to eliminate taxes on tipped wages.

She's for taxing income. There's no nefarious plot or hypocrisy in policy. Income, no matter it's origin, is taxed!

The service workers, and this is fully backed by their unions, who live on tips would much more prefer having the standard minimum wage then having their tips untaxed. That being said, tipping is definitely in the top 10 of stupid things that Americans do. It should never be that customers supplement the labor while the owners get away with pain less wages. It's dystopian capitalism at its finest.

It is true she voted in favor of Inflation Reduction Act which included it however it is important to know that her positions can change. Also it is important to note, Democrats had less a majority in both houses than Trump was handed back in 2017 when taking office.
Clearly, this was in the list of compromises that Democrats & Republicans in government proposed be added. Not everyone is going to get something they want / support though it was an important piece of legislation that needed to be passed for the good of the country.

Kamala Harris didn’t work on the bill, all she did was help it to the President’s desk. That is all.
