Do you know that TIM WALZ could be the next PRESIDENT?

There is a scenario that would have Tim Walz as the next President, and Kamala Harris would play an important part.

Here’s how it would happen.

1. The 2024 election ends in a 269-269 tie in the Electoral College, neither Harris nor Trump wins the required 270 electoral votes.

2. The 12th Amendment defines what happens...

3. The House determines the President and the Senate determines the Vice President.

4. In the Senate. Assuming the 2024 elections leave the composition of the Senate unchanged, (Dems and Reps tied), the Senate votes a 50-50 tie. Kamala Harris, as VP, breaks the tie by voting for Walz, who becomes the VP-elect.

5. In the House, the voting is different. There are 435 members of the House, but each state gets one vote, and each state’s representatives must agree on how that vote is cast; if they can’t agree, they don’t vote. Several states have both Dem and Rep members (assuming there are no significant changes in the 2024 election, when the entire House is up for election), so some states will not vote; it's hard for either candidate to get 26 votes to be elected President. If no one gets 26 votes, the House votes again, and keeps on voting until one candidate gets 26 votes or March 4 happens. Let’s say the House never gets a winner (26 votes).

6. On inauguration day (Jan 20, 2025) Tim Walz is sworn in as Vice President. Since a new President has not been determined, Joe Biden continues as President, so we have the Biden-Walz administration.

7. On March 4, 2025, the House still has not determined a winner, and gives up. At that point, the Vice President (Tim Walz) becomes President. Since the Vice President office is now vacant, it is filled by the Speaker of the House, whoever that is (voted by the new representatives elected in 2024 and took office in Jan 2025).

8. And so, we have the Walz-TBD administration for the next 4 years, until the 2028 election.
