Harris did better and was more coherent than I expected, I'll admit that. Will it help? Maybe. I see it possibly being more or less an adrenaline shot in her campaign, but not much beyond that. That's a wait-and-see thing.

As for Trump? We learned nothing new about him at all. He did what he always does. He didn't perform as well as he could or should have. I don't think he was as disciplined or focused this time. He missed a lot of good opportunities, particularly when Harris did her "we need to stop being so divisive" bit. Trump should have hit back with "Ah, so what did you think about Joe Biden's 'unity speech' here in PA two years ago? Let's talk about that." He was very scattered and distracted.

Will it hurt him? Maybe. I suspect it might just be short term damage that he'll dust off. Tulsi Gabbard was probably screaming at her TV all night.

The moderators? CNN's moderators were better.

Will this debate change anything at all? I doubt it. Harris might come away feeling a little more confident, but not much else.

Trump said some stupid things but said some really interesting things about the fact that the stuff she was saying could be done right now while her and Joe are still in office instead of promising them after being president, so that only proves it’s just talk and that she can’t accomplish those things later if she can’t do them now
