Should we let natural selection do its job? Remove laws/labels meant to protect people from their own stupidity?

Many measures have been created because people do stupid things. Maybe we should remove some of these measures that allow people to be stupid and let nature do its thing. 3 examples below:

1. Pedestrians

Society as a whole would rather place the burden of protecting pedestrians on the drivers rather than having the pedestrians actually care about their own safety. For example, society expects that, even if the pedestrian jaywalks on a 50mph road instead of simply waiting for the light to change and the driver cannot stop in time, the driver should swerve into a ditch rather than hit the pedestrian. The natural selection way would be that, if the pedestrian made this mistake and got hit, the driver would not be seen as at fault. Obviously nobody wants the pedestrian hit, but if their actions caused the issue then it shouldn't be expected for the driver to hurt their livelihood or car to accommodate someone who didn't care about their own safety. If the law made the pedestrian take some accountability, then maybe they would wait their turn before crossing the road.

2. Consuming things not meant for human consumption.

Before the Tide Pod challenge, nobody needed to be told to not eat something meant to clean clothes. Now tide pods have to have warnings to not be consumed. There are many things like this. The natural selection way would be to let the idiots learn the hard way. Maybe they survive and maybe they don't. If they live, they learn. If not, then their stupidity caused it and likely they died before they could be a nuisance in the future at someone else's expense.

3. "Pranks".

Saw a youtube video where a guy goes into dangerous hoods asking people "Want to get popped?" then reaches into his pocket to pull out a soda. If you ask me that and reach in your pocket, then I'm assuming you plan to smoke me and I have the right to defend myself. Natural selection way would be to place the blame on the idiot youtuber, not the person in fear of getting popped.

Let nature do it's thing.

Screw nature. Protect our precious morons.

Obviously this would not include little kids. This question is geared towards "functioning" adults.

I partly agree, people should bear more responsibility for their own safety and use commonsense.

BUT, we still need protection from unscrupulous employers who would force people to undertake hazardous tasks. We still need protection from people who would install unsafe items and cut corners.

If you let people do what they want quite often it's other people, not them, that pay the price.

I fully agree with you. Workplaces HAVE to be regulated. My question is geared more towards scenarios where an individual should be responsible for their own safety but choose to be reckless because they know the law is on their side, like with pedestrians crossing where they are not supposed to.

Well, those things protect kids and adults that don't function like you and I - you know, they roam around too.

But you should DEFINITELY be in your right to kill them if they get in your way. They should learn not to be so stupid.

Yup. I am American, the land where the stupid have more rights than those with common sense. I served in the military for a bit. My time overseas showed me just how spoiled Americans really are.

The first i asked my drivers instructor.

I mean, even if i swerve or slow slam breaks, i can cause a crash that might kill people. So that law is a problem.
