During his final speech to the United Nations General Assembly, US President Joe Biden touched on many topics.

He cited his decision to step away from this year’s presidential race as an example for leaders to follow. “Some things are more important than staying in power,” he said.

Do you agree or disagree with that statement?

Recognising that the Presidency is supposed to be a position of service, not power would be a good thing.

Trump actually had more power as a civilian billionaire than as President. That's what people don't understand. He said in the 80s - while most of his friends were Democrats - that if he ever ran, he'd run as a Republican because once you've got the nomination Republicans will believe anything, no matter how ridiculous. It got the laugh that was intended, but the truth is that somewhere around 2014 the sides swapped. I don't know anyone who's heard Kameltoe say what her actual policies will be about anything.

She's got a taste of "power" and is desperate not to lose it. That's what people can't see.

Jimmy Carter - love him or hate him - went back to building houses with Habitat for Humanity after he lost the election to Reagan. When asked why, he replied he wanted to do "something important". That's understanding what real "power" is.

It's the people. Not the Presidency.

In the end, the President can only do what his population is prepared to allow him to do.

Biden didn’t really do anything beneficial for the United States, I think he stepped down because he knew he wouldn’t win another election.

Then again I’m Canadian, and that’s just my personal viewpoint on it.

Biden railed for months, vowing to not drop out of the race, everybody in the democrat world visits him and tells him to drop out. Then he suddenly drops out and Kamala is ready to step in.

What do you think happened? He just changed his mind? “Forced out” in this context means pressured.

As a practical matter, people do change their minds and their behavior. They don't necessarily have to be forced to do anything.

That line about there being more important things than staying in power is just his way of justifying failure.
