Would you say that the Gen Z is self-absorbed?

If I get it right, Gen Z refers to people born between 1995 and 2010. The 'Z' in the name refers to the first generation known to 'zoom' over the internet. So we’re talking roughly 12 to 30 year olds.

I think a lot has to do with the abundance of social media. Although I use them myself and think there are many benefits, it’s getting to a point where it’s sort of ridiculous. I simply don’t understand why people feel the need to take picture after picture of their freaking selves. If I know you, I know what you look like. If I don’t know you, why should I care? I have no interest in knowing what you’re about to eat. Three pictures of the plate someone just put on the table in front of you? Just go for it and start before it gets cold. No need to know you’ve just arrived at airport XX, are about to take plane YY to get to your destination ZZ.

I know I’m being a bit sarcastic, but I’m sure you’ll get the point. Sometimes I wonder what these people think when they stop for a moment staring at their tiny screens and look up at the real world they are living in. Only to dive back into their screens. Maybe they think it’s a much safer world, a more predictable world if it’s virtual.
