I sued my dive shop owner for 310.00. Would you do that if he would not refund your money if you could not take the class?

I gave the man money to take an on-line class and the next day I found my brother had lung cancer and was hospitalized in Atlanta, and he wanted me to come and help him. I needed the money to help with airfare. The Owner of the shop refused to refund me, as he said it was "store policy' ... No Cash refunds' - NO exceptions"

I sued this morning. Would you go that far to collect money you felt was owed to you?

I mean it’s their policy to not refund. Think of it this way, if he has to teach the course and you back out for whatever reason he’s giving up income for that day especially if you were the only student to refund you. For that amount to me it’s not worth the fight especially if I won’t see that money for what could be months. Furthermore I could take the class at any time since it’s already paid.

Problem was I need the money to fly to Atlanta, after finding Jerry (brother) has lung cancer. The CLASS was an 'on-line' class with no input from him.

I’m aware but they have policies in place for a reason he has to protect his business some how. Sorry to hear about your brother though

For that amount? Small claims court if my lawyer thought it'd be worth it. But if it was in the thousands? Nothing legal I'd mention beforehand

That was the policy of the store. If you paid for the online class you can take it at any time, it doesn't expire.

You paid for an online class. The dive shop owner paid PADI or whoever to give you access, and you got the online access code to view the class.
