Why would anyone blame me for WWII?

Just recently someone from Youtube said the words ''You people hurt our ancestors back then. Don't you have any shame''?

I was shocked. This person seemed even a couple years younger than me. He wasn't even born in WWII either. My parents never taught me their native language. Only English was spoken at home. I was born in Maine.

My parents were born in the late 60's. The war was already long over by then. I have absolutely NOTHING to apologize for and never will. I did nothing. Why would I get blamed for WWII. I have nothing to do with this, neither do my parents.

In addition if any of my ancestors harmed his, it's very likely they're all 6ft under by now. Pretty soon there aren't going to be anymore WWII survivors either.

It depends on your nationality or whether the child associates your origins directly with you (I consider that where you were born is where you are, even if you only stayed in that country for hospitalization [1 day]).
So if you have German or Russian origins, that person wanted to attack the nation itself (which he associates you with).
In my personal case, I also make the same accusations when the discussions intensify during this topic. Because those German (West) and Russian people lived better than the biggest victims of WW2 (Eastern European Bloc) and the consequences of that event are still felt to this day.
These events that have determined a harder existence for some people, and this still brings hatred, upset, sadness and the desire for justice and maybe even revenge because of the chances of having a better life if someone in the past did not do something wrong.
(For some people it's hard to accept and get over things they can't control)

You are born in Main Germany, so you are german no mather what language you talk or what your parents are. You had been born in a country that what you are. German.

There's plenty of reasons to dislike modern Germans besides WWII. This person was probably just using it as an excuse to shit on Germans..

I read about the atrocities done, esp Unit 731. Indeed it was worse than Nazi Germany but nothing can be done anymore. The ones responsible are in the grave now. They can't demand any apology from the dead, much less from the innocent descendants who weren't even born at the time. The person hated me for nothing. I didn't do those atrocities to his ancestors. I have no reason to be ashamed of.
