Why are so many believing that Trump's tariff plan (200%/1000%) will help the US economy, when it won't?

I answered a question like this yesterday, factually and inoffensively, and then the comment was removed and I was blocked. Unbelievable, these MAGA people. No inconvenient truths allowed😂 Shout out to “Howdy Bates”😉🤫 Free speech, so tough, til it clearly disproves your point, lmfao.

Anyway, like I said yesterday…the issue is Trump clearly doesn’t understand how tariffs work, and that they’re inflationary FOR THE COUNTRY IMPOSING THEM, as AMERICA, not Mexico (yesterday’s example), not China (the usual example), are whose companies are footing the bill. There are benefits to tariffs sometimes, but using them as a deflationary device when they have quite literally the opposite effect on an economy is clearly a nonsensical solution proposition.

Like most things, Trump doesn’t have a clue, he just also knows his base supporters and probably just the average person don’t have a clue either, so it’s about one thing: WHAT SOUNDS GOOD?

Maybe my favorite analogy I can claim as my own original thought is “the kid running for class president making wild promises of unimplementable things. “I promise to end homework! And pop quizzes! And report cards! And everyday will be pizza day in the cafeteria!!!”

Thats it, that’s all this is. Trump doesn’t know how he’s going to stop any of it, and it doesn’t matter, because he doesn’t have to accomplish anything in his next term, if elected. He’d also scarily be no longer beholden to anyone to keep things cool to be re-elected, he can just wild out if he wants to.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be totally shocked if he stayed in office just long enough to get the DoJ off his back, then just steps down and hands the reins to American Psycho JD Vance. No way he wants to be President again at his age, and now people are trying to kill him, former supporters of his, no less. This is strictly an endeavor to get himself out of hot water.

Because the large majority of MAGA minions are uneducated and uninformed. They are just blindly believing what their cult leader is spouting. That’s why they are also the primary targets for all these silly Trumpian grifts, without realizing it.

tariffs absolutely will help the US economy. it worked in his first administration and it'll work again

companies still want that precious American money from the American consumer and Trump knows that

to prevent companies from shipping jobs overseas, they need to create jobs in the US to avoid the tariffs themselves

therefore more jobs in the US creates more money in the US and allows for American exports to bring in more money from overseas consumers

companies who think they can avoid the tariffs by not selling to American customers will miss out on the American market and rely on broke countries to buy their products

it's a win for the US either way because the American consumer is the leverage

You realize the entire federal government is meant to run on tariffs rather than income tax right? If we were to return to tariffs and eliminate the federal income tax average people would be doing a lot better.

Won't be that high but sure if a foreign government is subsidising it's industry to outcompete and out sell us industry in the us and abroad should the federal government allow that? Or should it protect American jobs? American industry?
