What proposition? You need to be more specific.
Prop 35 regarding Medi-Cal. It's the most confusing, yet most important.
Why is there not a full text of it available on the web? Why does it take away from children under 5 and in-home nurses? Why are the insurance companies who are at the root of evil in our medical arena spending 50M$ to get it passed? Why are our representatives in agreement with these insurance companies? Why does the actual ballot say that there is no opposition, when there really is? Why is the governor against it? He said "Read between those very very carefully written lines..." Why is it expected to still create a financial burden and debt on the California budget? Why is no one talking about it? It's so SUS.
Wow, that's a lot of questions. Sorry, I don't know the answers. I spent the first 24 years of my life in California. I left as soon as I could and stopped paying attention. The state has become an absolute disaster and I just couldn't stay another day. It is truly paradise lost.
Where did you move to? Are you liking it where you are?
I live in Utah now, and I love it.
What would you say the pros and cons of Utah are? If you don't mind me asking.
Sure, no problem. Utah is a beautiful place, both it's mountains and it's red rocks in the south. If you like the outdoors, there are few places as nice to live. People here are generally healthier, friendlier and happier than other states. It is always ranked among the happiest and healthiest states. It's not as crowded as places like So Cal, although that is changing.
Also unlike California, Utah is a business-friendly state. It does not have the oppressive regulation California has. My employer is large and hires a lot of remote workers from around the country, but it's policy is to not hire people who live in California because dealing with their regulations is horrible and expensive. Utah also has a highly educated workforce. For those two reasons, it is a state where businesses love to operate, which is also good for working Utahns.
Utah is also a very well managed state. According to U. S. News & World Report, it is the best managed state in the nation. Conservative principles make for good policy and good laws, and that's what we have in Utah. Look at the state of California for an example of the opposite. People and business are leaving in droves, going to less woke and overregulated states like Texas, Florida, Arizona, Idaho, and yes, Utah. There are a lot of ex-Californians here.
Now for some cons, which generally result from the same influences that make it a great place to live. Utah is the Mormon state, and the LDS church has a strong influence on culture, and some may not like that for whatever reason. I am not religious myself, but I appreciate those influences because the good far outweighs the bad, and the negatives are small. Most businesses are closed on Sundays, all alcohol other than 5% or lower strength beers must be bought in state run liquor stores. A very few Mormons can be judgmental of others, but I actually find that less so with Mormons that some other religions. As a non-Mormon I have been treated well by the Mormons I know and work with.
I came to Utah with a somewhat negative view of Mormons, but it didn't take long for me to realize I was wrong. There are a lot of inaccurate and uninformed perceptions in other states about Mormons. Aside from some odd beliefs unique among Christians (they are Christians), Mormons are just normal people like anyone else. There are some general differences though. This may sound bad to some, but on average they are just better human beings. They are principled, hard working, nice, generous people. But the state is predominantly white, so minorities may feel uncomfortable here, but not because anyone makes them feel that way. Mormons are very accepting and tolerant as a rule. In fact, young men and women in the Mormon church usually serve missions in other countries, and as a result, people from all over the world who convert to Mormonism come to visit Utah, which is the Mormon capitol of the world, and they are welcomed.
So those are my thoughts. Happy to answer any other questions you might have.
Cool! Thanks 👍
