As a Californian my entire life I think it should.


We have a north and south for so many states.


This would be beneficial for elections, on a bi partisan level, because regardless what party wins the state they get a whopping 54 electoral votes.

It would also be beneficial to have more efficient local government, because I feel the government is strained having to control a state with a massive population.

Aby change to the US requires 2 states, one Democratic and one Republican, of approximately equal size; that's the only way the political parties and Congress would agree, since it would affect the Electoral College and Presidential elections. Note that Alaska and Hawaii were the last additions in 1959. There has been talk of breaking up California into THREE states, North (Republican conservative), Central (Democratic, existing) and South (Democratic liberal).
