I’m a Hispanic male that has lived my whole life in California. At 18 I was a firm Democratic voter but for the first time I registered as a Republican due to all the bs including the woke bs that’s been poisoning our youth and society.
That being said, something has caught my attention. The recent mid term elections paint a very clear message that this state. Is in fact turning more and more purple as years go by. Because people are little by little seeing the lies and deceit coming from the democratic party.
I’m personally happy to see it, the way you keep politicians in line is send a clear message. Sure, Gavin Newsom unfortunately won, however not by much. He won by 1 million votes… considering in the past democratic nominees would win by 2 million votes or even more.
Do you think California is turning into a battleground state?
When I was in California it was a mixed state. They had a string of mostly Republican governors. Two terms of Deukmejian (R), two terms of Wilson (R), one term of Davis (D), Two terms of Schwarzenegger (R). So they had almost entirely Republican governors from the early 80s until 2011.
The US congressmen, and state reps were also more closely matched than they are today. Also, in the past, California was a battleground state in presidential elections. California went Republican in presidential elections up until the late 80s. For young people that might seem like ages ago, but not for me. I remember it well and it doesn't seem like that long ago.
Into the 2000s and especially in the 2010s, California went full out Democrat. That's probably due to a combination of changing demographics, and the liberal propaganda machine telling Hispanics that Republicans are a bunch of racists who hate Hispanics. Neither of which is true, but people immigrating to the country don't know better and believe it.
Personally I always thought Hispanics should be Republican. The kind of people they are, their lifestyle, and priorities in life more closely align with Republicans than Democrats.
If California is shifting toward being a battleground state, it's really getting back to normal after a short period of liberal dominance.
California will not always be Democrat- policies will change and evolve, including in their importance. Generations have different priorities, and as they come of age, the Republican party may promote policies that are attractive to them.
Neither political party has firm policy foundations; although Republicans tend to prefer Order/ Personal Responsibility, while Democrats prefer to support/ promote those who are not good enough to be successful on their own.
The Republican party has been extremely watered own just in my lifetime, and may continue to change. The purpose of a party is to win elections, nothing more, nothing less, and I have no doubt they'll adjust themselves to become more competitive across the country- even if it means abandoning anything worth fighting for.

Demographics change over time in any state, which is reflected in the vote. The GOP may have narrowed the gap some on California it it’s still solidly blue. States like Georgia and Arizona have become true battleground states.
Congratulations getting out from under their BS! Neither side is perfect, but the left has some really bad ideas trashing society.
I'm sure some people are shifting due to homeless encampments, cost of living, and the inability to charge their cars and go to work.. lol, and high cost of electric.
All that is coming near me since we follow CA blindly.
It’s a lot man. Took me awhile to see it, but what made me snap out of it, is every single democratic politician always makes the same promises as their predecessors. Promising to make things better, when in reality things are getting worse. They need to be held accountable.
Well done. Look at the education next... that's where they instill and control the minds.. I see it in our kids... the racism, wokism, thinking, etc.. Takes a rebel to think outside the box. Since you are military, you know what discipline/honor/respect... and thus... lack of discipline does to human beings. Can't even punish a kid in school anymore. The lack of responsibility, lack of discipline, respect for authority means this country is at risk. False ideas on discipline... in my day, we'd get paddled or expelled... can't even touch a kid now. School is the root of the problem/opportunity.. without strong parents, these kids are screwed. I'm near NYC and I see it, and yet the democrats deny there's a crime problem but can no longer ignore it. I find democrats to be more hypocritical, although they both can be. I'm independent, but to the right.
Add to it "kids can decide to convert their gender"... the left has lost their marbles. Have fun talking to them out here, there's plenty... they don't change their minds. Again, republicans aren't always right either.
I do think the military had a lot to do with why I switched my mindset on politics and became more center but right leaning. I do think the democratic party has been infected by outside forces.
They have their hands in pockets of companies that out source their jobs to countries like China.
China knows that the only way to destroy the United States is to weaken us from the inside out. That’s why we have Tik Tok and all this woke bs. Making our young men soft and weak and our young women into degenerate sluts.
It’s sickening to see honestly. I don't know what’s to come in the coming years but things do not look good at all.
And definitely, schools are definitely indoctrinating our youth. Case in point out of high school I voted solid Blue. But I have a brain, I can think for myself and don’t forget the bs people say and do
You're a glimmer of hope. Totally agree, none of this garbage existed when I was your age. Human issues always there, but the thinking has shifted within a generation. Sadly, they are in control. I'll give you the other piece to the pie... I think it's hormonal and emotional control. Hormones in environment messed up, emotional... by way of media, school, etc.. Parents have been "diminished" by way of policies. Consider food supply, stuff that is in everything "naturally and artificially... blah blah"... food irradiation, plant estrogens, etc.. I have no fact, just suspicion. Whether it's "intentional" or not, something went astray and fast. China is not promoting LGBTQ agenda... goes the other way. "We"... of the middle right, are... the minority... but I meet many who think like us in real life.
Winning by a million votes in a 7 million vote race is pretty huge. And that's an unpopular candidate. I'd say California is far from a battleground state. With any other Democratic candidate, it probably would be by more. One instance is a poor sample size to base a theory on.
Also an interesting strategy throwing your support behind the party that is also endorsed by the KKK and other groups who want you dead for existing. I hope it works out for you.

Newsom won by almost the exact same percent Ron DeSatan won by. So how is CA a battleground? 60% to 40% is a landslide in election terms.

People don't realize for about 50 years it was all Republican, all the time. It was only 20 years ago it switched to Communism, because of Hollywood and Silicon Valley.

And it was a wonderful place to be, my parents, grandparents and great-grandparents all grew up here and said it was heaven. I'm the first one to have to deal with all the disgusting mess of living here.
