I lived in Southern California 10 years ago and it was some of the best times of my entire life. I dreamed about owning a second house there.
However my opinion has changed in the last 5 years of Cali. They have gone from free spirited liberals to insane commie communists and LA is becoming a dystopian shithole. Rats, huge populations of homeless people, violet crime and authoritarian lock down. Fuck that place. Fun to visit occasionally but fuck the leftists who insist on burning it down to the ground and then cry for federally tax payer funded programs to save their worthless asses
Thanks for MHO
Probably my favorite vacation state as a kid. Also the state my dad's side of the family came from.
None of them live there anymore. The conservatives went to Texas, and the hippies went to Oregon. Cali has become a top tier sh*thole, basically unrecognizable now from how it was 10-15 years ago, especially in the major cities. The rural parts haven't changed as much, but they're still really not worth it when there's better options elsewhere.

Positive, I guess. I think mostly in terms of Southern California, just because of TV and movies. When I was a kid in the 80s, it just seemed like the best place to grow up, all the cool shit was happening there with skateboards and BMX bikes and always having nice weather. They’d show those then-recent neighborhood developments that all kind of look the same but look like an idyllic suburban utopia if you’re a ten year old kid.
I’ve been to LA a few times, loved it every time I went, I like the vibe of the city, albeit a little phony when you factor in the wealthy folks. I think I could live there and be straight up homeless, lmao, just chill on the Venice Beach boardwalk, and then catch a bus and hit Olvera Street when you’re hungry. I could live that life, haha.
I’m sure there’s more to it if you live there, not to mention the rest of the state, but my mental image of California is generally positive.
Overwhelmingly negative. Besides the natural resources, nature, and wildlife, there isn't a single good thing that comes out of California anymore. Previously, they just had movies and technology, but all of that went woke, making California politically useless as a state, now. It's just a giant sack of sh*t, run by giant turds, who are ruining the natural beauty and nature that state actually has.
It's practically a large country in it's own right so with that, you get the best of bests and the worst of worst. Location location location.
If you have money the pros outweigh the cons. Putting cost of living aside, California has great weather, good job opportunities, lots of things to do. Want to watch sports, tons of sports teams. Want to go to the opera, there's also that. Skiing, beach, hiking, everything in between.
I voted neutral. I haven't been there but I would like to visit. I however want to stay in New York. I have a cousin who lived there for a while when he was doing his residency. Perhaps @Still-alive can share his opinion on this
Why would I think positively of paying high taxes, homelessness, and government controlled businesses?
But maybe I'm the crazy one, because the people of California seem to love authoritarian rule by Gavin Gruesome.
Negative. I remember when it was beautiful and the schools were good. It's a dung heap now.
@exitseven Sorry.
I don’t agree with their gun laws and what kind of strip clubs don’t allow alcohol like wtf don’t even get me started on the pizza and Cali has no pretty black girls if you do find one she’s usually mixed the Mexicans are racist af too don’t be side eyeing me cus I’m with a Latina and talking sht in Spanish I speak Spanish too asshole
California is not seen as a positive place to be in my eyes. One of the states that I view as an ugly genital wart.
Maybe things will turn around with Larry Elder pending his beating Gavin Newsom in the governor's run
I live here. For how much longer I don't know. But if you have a lot of money you can do quite well here. If you don't well I think you should look elsewhere.
I voted A. The Democrat dominated politics suck big time. But the weather and topography are the best in the world. And there is so much to do in California.
Never been there and not American so perhaps not best informed but from what I know no thanks
At the moment, negative!! It's over-run by illegals, loony lefties, vagrants, druggies and child molesters.
Negative cause of how they’re handling homelessness
I like it cause I vacationed there one time and its gorgeous.
I think if a Republican can do a better job at running the State of California US then let it happen
California has the 5th largest economy in the world, has lots of jobs, and contributes 14.8% to US gdp which supports many of the poor, welfare red states that contribute nothing to the US economy.
Clearly none of the morons who answered so far know anything about CA outside of what right wing hate mongering has lied to them about.
Who gives a fuck about the economics if the quality of life is shit and only the richest people can afford to live there (which I seriously doubt you are one of). The fact that you made this comment, posted a picture, did so unironically and ACTUALLY thought it was an intelligent, logical thing to say, speaks volumes about you and your utter lack of intelligence or common sense. China is one of the richest countries in the world, but I guess by your retarded logic, it'd be a paradise to live in, too. Since you brought up "right wingers" (despite the fact both the right/moderate center, and the left, hate California, again speaks to your "intelligence"), I can only assume you're far-left/another SJW. So China would probably be a paradise to you.
Also, all the stuff you said is a disingenuous crock of shit. California takes in more federal money than it gives back, making it a giant leech on the country and a drain on the economy, as opposed to the economy boosting bullshit you tried to frame it as.

You clearly deserve to live in California.
@MCheetah Did you even read the article you posted you dumb mother fucker? You just proved my point and debunked your own claim. CA is now "revenue neutral" compared to the red states like MS, AL, KY, and WV on the map below taking in more than they give. Lol, you're a fucking idiot.
"California has moved off the list of donor states and now takes in almost exactly as much in federal payments as its businesses and residents pay in taxes."
@MCheetah Are you really stupid enough to believe most of the 39 million people living in California are living in squalor and poverty?
I discussed one particular aspect of California: the economy, and posted a link supporting the fact that it has the strongest economy in the country and contributes the most to GDP. And in it and attempt to debunk this, your dumb ass posted a link you never bothered to read supporting what I said. Lol, You truly are A grade a idiot.
You could’ve just as easily compared to California to Japan, the third strongest economy, or Korea the 10th strongest. Instead you prove my point again with your ignorance of California and by regurgitating fascist propaganda comparing it to China.
How the hell would an ex pat English teacher living in Korea know anyways? You were too stupid to make it in America and like your mother said, you’re a total piece of shit.
@MCheetah Below has to be the dumbest, most ignorant, even contradictory statement I've read in a long time. 😆 what a moron.
"Who gives a fuck about the economics if the quality of life is shit and only the richest people can afford to live there"
its a great place to live... if you can afford it. its very expensive. weather is amazing though
I live in California and I honestly think the economy in the state here is absolute garbage.
Hate the culture and politics. Love the Pacific Ocean.
It's nothing but a failed state that is almost entirely, if not completely, under one party rule.
