Not sure how far back you think you need to go for "used to be," but having got out in 2018, I can assure you the officer corps was broadly sh*t and the NCO corps was being torn apart back then too. In fact, the realization of how bad it was getting was a major reason I got out in the first place, thank God before all the COVID nonsense. The US military has had a bloated and corrupt leadership problem since at least world war 1 though, between Wilson turning them into political agents and the elites of the time creating unnecessary officer roles so their sons could "serve." For various reasons, none of this has been addressed.

Anyway, screw Kelly. His story sounds like complete BS fiction written up by a political activist group, and anyone who seriously believes that Kamala or anyone else involved in the current administration gives a rats ass about the constitution or the rule of law is high. In fact, it even sounds like pure projection, especially when you consider that Obama actually did infamously cull the senior officers who didn't place him over the constitution.

@BCA6010 the military essentially has corporate leadership movement now, all the officers (mostly ones who weren't prior service and it's usually lt col and above) blow each other and pat themselves on the back all day.

I also love how people always like these guys tell vets and military members how they should feel about things, same guys who do not give a fuck about any of us and probably would vote for cutting VA funding...

And if you knew your history - which you should at your age - you would know that Germany was the literal frontline during the cold war. In the Eastern part were the Russian tank divisions and atomic weapons. Ever since then, the United States has reduced their military presence by 80%.
