Fascism is a religion that was founded by Giovanni Gentile. He was what is now termed an Idealist in the modern day, being that he was pulling from the ideas of Kant (Transcendental Idealism) and later on Hegel (Dialectical Idealism). The core philosophical idea behind his cult was that the physical world is created by the human mind. When you hear new age woke wackos today claiming the are manifesting things into the world, that's pretty much the same thing. This is why Marxists are always screaming Fascist as a dirty word, because they both come from the same left-wing religion, but they are both competing for the spiritual belief of mankind. The Marxists think they need to united the entire world to reawaken their god (Satan), where as the Fascists think they only need to unite a nation of followers to reawaken their god (Satan). Both are different denominations of the same religion. Both groups want to bundle together like sticks as "Legion" (Collectivism/Socialism) to rise above humanity and become God. This is the old story of Satan becoming prideful as he looked at the beauty of humanity created by God, then raising a rebel army for revolution with the ultimate desire to take God's place. Fascists believing that they create the world with their minds, thus believe they are in total control of the world around them and change happens through "Action". This is why you have Action by the Fascist in many historic newspapers and Anti-Fascist Action (ANTIFA) by their religious brothers Marxists as they compete to become God. Both groups socialize (Socialism) their populations to abandon individualism "to become one with the State" (Legion) because they see people as communal beings (Communists).

In contrast America is One Nation Under God. All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights. Americans dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them. The large majority of Americans believe God created existence and granted man free will as individuals. America while not a theocracy, is influenced by the morality of God's law and stand steadfast against Satan wearing The Whole Armor of God.

American involvement in ww2 b4 pearl harbour was mostly selling armaments, for instance they sold F2 Buffalo fighter planes to Finland to fight the Soviets. Few hundred aircraft to thd French. Supplied the British empire with tons of equipment and food all paid for with gold. Armed the Chinese. The British sold off its empire for 50 old us destroyers. So us involvement b4 pearl harbour was war profiteering.
If they knew there was going to be a war most wouldn't have signed on but the US military was growing and that meant more jobs especially coming out of the socialist nightmare of the great depression.

Britain largely controlled the seas which is why German merchant ships couldn't trade with the US. The us traded weapons to france, Finland and Thailand that joined the AXIS.

The Atlantic was a warzonr so any merchant ships no matter their nationality contracted by the British to make deliveries would have been attacked, a U-boat wouldn't have been able to tell the difference through a periscope while attacking convoys at night, if it was you say then every merchant ship heading to Britain would have been registered to a US shipping company and flying the stars and stripes. The Royal Navy would have seized or sunk any US merchant ships heading to Germany. Remember the Atlantic was a war zone, Ireland for instance was neutral yet lost many merchant ships and Dublin was bombed.
They voted for FDR in 1940 because he ran on keeping America out of the war on Europe, it doesn't change that fact just because FDR was lying. Congress was dead set against getting involved in a war in Europe and many restrictions were put on helping Britain for instance cash & carry meaning British gold had to arrive in the us before they could have any war materials. After Pearl Harbour America was at war with Japan not Germany, FDR declared war with Japan. The us may not have even got involved in Europe, it was only when Hitler declared war on the US that FDR had a free hand to help Britain and Russia. Most of those in the US thought that they should fight Japan nor Germany.
