Some states are saying that they may not have vote counts completed until the end of the week! Should something be done to force states to a deadline?

The longer it takes to announce the vote count the more opportunity there is for voter fraud.

Many Americans have already lost confidence in the voting system and maintaining the integrity of this system is one of the most important functions of government. In 2020 there was a pandemic excuse, but there is no excuse that states cannot provide timely and accurate counts now. If they don't do so, the entire voting system will be called into question.

For 99% of the history of the country the results have been reported ON ELECTION DAY.

Now, since the Democrats forced all of the opportunities for fraud on the system, mail in voting for anyone who wants it, ballot droboxes, early voting, etc. , the results are taking longer and longer to report, undermining confidence in the most important right Americans have... and rightfully so.

Should states be required to report the results within no more than one day after election day?

Let's hope that President Trump wins TOO BIG TO RIG this time so that even fraud won't be enough to stop him.

Right now I am hearing reports of people in my area who are going to the polls to vote for Trump today and being told when they get there that they already voted early when they didn't. This is very troubling. Multiple reports already and there are probably many more yet to come out.

There already is a legal deadline. Each state must certify its election results, and electors, to the Electoral College, which "meets" on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December following the presidential election. The President at the time of the election (Biden in 2024) is the President for another 2-1/2 months after the election. It used to be 4 months until the 20th Amendment moved inauguration day from March 4 to January 20.

Each state can take as long as it wants, or needs, to ensure its vote count is correct. There's no reason to rush it. The House doesn't certify the Electoral College results, and the new President doesn't take office, until January of the following year.

There's also no reason that it can't be done on election day. This isn't 1794, it's 2024. Each state should be responsible for designing a system to get the job done on election day so that the American people can have faith in the election system. The longer it festers after election day the less confidence people rightfully have in the system.

@RingOfFire If everyone voted in person, at a polling place, the way it once was, you could have valid vote counts on election night, or maybe the next morning. But with more than half of voters early voting and mail-in ballots, it takes more time to properly and accurately process the votes.

Please note that, in most states, the counting of early votes and mail-in ballots cannot start until the end of election day, so as not to bias voters if they were leaked. It's bad enough that political pundits use the numbers of early voters as an indicator of how they voted, which can be completely incorrect.

That's one of the key arguments as to why there should be no universal mail-in or drop-box voting. These voting methods are not secure and are an invitation for fraud. In addition, as you point out, it further undermines confidence in the system because there is no way to count them on election day.

You do know that only 473 instances of voter fraud in the six battleground states were uncovered in the 2020 election. And there was mail in voting then, too. It is overblown conspiracy theory that there is rampant voter fraud in American elections.

And there have been further security measures for THIS election. And I'm sure there will be NEW lawsuits alleging voter fraud that will be debunked again.

There was no proof in the 2020 election. And I bet if trump wins, he won't claim any voter fraud happened, will he? He's a terrible sore loser. It's embarrassing. He's still telling the lie that he won the last election when Biden won by 81 million votes. I mean, really. Stop the embarrassment.

Ideally yes, but the best thing to make it as hard to rig as possible is indeed voting in massive numbers. Imagine you have to vote 10% more than the democrats and vote accordingly. It will have to be to obvious he won so that their steal is to blatent, thats how you win.

The states can do it any way they want. They don't have to let the people vote. They don't have to count those votes. And if they count the votes, they can completely ignore them. The only rule is they have to have their electoral college picked by the deadline, which is some ways off.

Pennsylvania is the one that worries me most. They are a corrupt Democrat stronghold with abysmal election rules and processes. And it is arguably THE most important state of this election.

@RingOfFire I worry about Texas. Ted Cruz complains about how tough the race is for him. Yes the democrats are out spending him 10-1 but does it mean Texas is in play? There has already been an investigation about illegal aliens voting. Maybe this is more wide spread than was discovered. If the Democrats can flip Texas there will be no stopping them

I lived in Arizona for about 13 years back in the '70s and 80s. It was red as red can get. Now it's a swing state.

I can't think of anything to attribute that to accept the influx of illegal aliens that is now out of control with Harris and Biden.

I can imagine the same kind of thing going on in Texas. So I would not be surprised if Texas is a lot paler red and it used to be. I don't think Harris is going to win it, but it doesn't surprise me that the down ballot candidates might be more challenged than they used to be.

If want to do it electronic, is more possible.

my state used paper, counting takes time.
