Why do we HATE each other?

I keep noticing more and more how people in the two main political parties seem the (often) hate people from the other party. As someone who evaluates others individually rather than by groups, and who has friends on both sides of the aisle, I find it absolutely ridiculous how much people hate and slander each other with no basis except what political party they are aligned with.

I see conservatives cutting off their friends and slandering strangers because "oh my gosh she's for opening the border," or "I think he might have crossed the border illegally." I hear them saying "liberals are all satanic!" "they're all communists" etc etc.

I see liberals cutting off their friends and slandering strangers because "he's probably a racist, he voted for Trump," or "I found out the Jenna doesn't support stimulus checks." I hear them saying "conservatives are so cultish," "they're all gross" etc etc.

I keep seeing and hearing totally un-based personal attacks with absolutely no evidence to support it. I think that's ridiculous.

What happened to the days when we could have a respectful and productive conversation with people who oppose our views?

Oh and here's a crazy idea: just because you vote for someone doesn't mean you support everything they say or do.

The fact of the matter is the average American citizen often lacks critical thinking skills that allow them to form their own opinions. Christians especially are guilty of this because asking questions can lead to religious deconstruction and a loss of faith, which churches heavily depend on - I say this bc it’s my main frame of reference as I live in the state with the highest number of churches per capita in the country, and that thinking also influences how one approaches politics. Many people will go with the majority just to fit in without really thinking about why that party is best for them, they just take what others say, others they trust, at their word and assume it’s best because of that. There’s nothing wrong with trusting the opinion of your friends, but we hate because we’re taught to by those same people.

Because views started infringing on the rights of others. Because there's so much at stake. Because people started wanting people just because they were different to cease to exist along with their ways of life. Basically people didn't want to share the world with each other. They'd rather not even share the same air. Groups of people throughout history have been targeted because they were different and those people were almost terminated completely. People think that "oh that won't happen in America, we are above that" we definitely aren't at all. History often repeats itself sadly.

@HawkPerception Even though its a fact that Kamala Harris might possibly be the most intelligent and qualified presidential candidate in modern history, that is not why I support her. USA is a two party system. The only election strategy that makes logical sense in a 2 party system is to vote for the lesser of two evils. It is always a vote against the candidate you like the least rather than a vote for the one you like the most which honestly says a lot about the current state of voting in USA even if you dont bring up the electoral collage.

But why dont I like Trump? I can't find a single reason why I should. If we look at national interests then he provides nothing. Building walls, deportations, tariffs, etc.. On every single issue Trump is on the wrong side of what makes even logical sense, much less moral sense. Trump is not going to balance the budget. Trump is not going to improve the economy. Trump is not going to invest in any future plans that will benefit USA such as the CHIPS act. Trump is not going to solve anything for anyone except himself.

And that is before I even speak on the question of morality. In my eyes Trump is a criminal who should be in jail rather than on his way into the white house. He is a convicted rapist and very strong allegations of him raping minors with graphic descriptions. Morally speaking he is a horrific monster. For his sake alone I would delay the abolishment of the death sentence if I had the choice. Instead, because of the will of the people we are not going to witness his judicial execution but rather instead see him lead the country as some parody of a Batman villain.

Literacy does not equal IQ, you know that. Same goes for education. Studies after WWII actually showed that the more public education a person goes through, the less intelligent they become, as judged both by their general knowledge and their ability to solve problems.

Since Kamala has achieved respectable educational accomplishments where as the average American has had their basic literacy skills degraded then I put her firmly in the upper 50% of people based on intelligence.
