No. The Dems backed themselves into a corner. After Biden was pushed out, better would have been to hold a nationwide primary to select the candidate, rather than picking the Vice President, who was never intended to eventually run for President.

Will have to agree with @OlderAndWiser that Joe Manchin would've been better, or John Fetterman. Kamala was a failure of a choice and especially at a critical moment in history to try to keep Trump from getting a second term.

She did not have to go through the process that all of the other candidates before her had to go through. So we will never know if she was the best candidate out there.
There were no primaries that she had to win, at the last minute she was "appointed" as the candidate.
I don't think she actually ever won a primary in the previous elections.
She was picked as vice president running mate because she was female, and "of color"
This was from a party that kept telling us that there was no difference between males and females yet chose a female to help get votes. Which brings up the question, why didn't she pick a female running mate?
So, she was probably not the best person to run for president.
Had there been someone stronger Trump may not have won.
Like the previous election people picked the other candidate because he wasn't Trump.
In this past election the dems lost female voters, black voters and Latino voters.
So many people, the so-called silent majority had had enough of the crap that the dems were doing, ie males can compete with women in sports, males can use the same bathrooms as females, things like that, the horrible economy, inflation, the dependence on foreign countries for just about everything, the open boarders, horrendous oil prices, people had just had enough and got out and voted.
So, this time around Trump while probably not the best choice was still better than Harris.
The polls showed the same results.
Trump won the popular vote, the electoral vote, a red wave went through the senate, and in all likelihood the house.
SO hopefully this will be a much needed wake up call for the dems to step back and take a long hard look at just what the fu*ked up over the past few years.
I am neither a republican, nor a democrat.
I try to figure out the best person for the job and vote for them.
Lately it has become easier to figure out who to vote for.
It did not always used to be that way.
But here is a thinking point.
Out of the 258.3 million adults in the US, these are the two best candidates that they could come up with.
They were who we had to choose from, and the vast majority of the people made their choice heard loud and clear.

Of course not. The problem is that Biden decided to run for a 2nd term when he should not have which sabotaged the chances for literally everyone else. To add to this Kamala was thrust into the election towards the end and did not really get much time to prepare.

It is very possible that Kamala could have won if she was the candidate from the start and also very possible that someone else could have been a better candidate. That said, the establishment democrats wanted Biden and Biden was too slow to recognize that he was a liability so here we are.

Granted, the fact that anyone voted for Trump in the first place is bad news for USA. No rational or mentally well adjusted person would even consider such a stupid decision.

Why do you think Harris would have won if she ran from the start?

She only campaigned on two things: abortion (which didn't resonate with voters - in Arizona Trump is projected to win, while in the same state abortion ballot passed by a landslide - there are pro-choice Republicans) and on calling Trump "a threat to democracy" (which also didn't resonate with voters. I believe additional few months would not change much.

Trump got way less votes this election than he did last time. Also presidential election campaigns are usually planned and organized years in advance.

Did he? So far he got 1 500 000 million votes less, and not all states are counted yet. For example in California only half of votes were counted so far.

Maybe and maybe not, I think the main problem was switching candidates 100 days before the election. Biden stated in 2020 he wanted to be a one-term president. The DNC failed collectively in finding a successor in four years!

This is part of the reason Trump won in 2016, Hillary was forced on us via a manipulated primary.

No, when Biden dropped, I said handing the nomination to Harris would be a big mistake that would result in Trump winning. Some of the polling I seen, had Harris doing worse then Biden against Trump.
