That's assuming in good faith our government officials believe in democracy. So when the gop now maga party historically was destroying democracy we should have thrown them all in jail. Yet here we are.

Our whole construction is build on good faith. It's of the people by the people to self government. It's only after believing our founding father's were holy Apostle and the constitution as untouchable holy text and our supreme court being high priest did we lose our way.

The greatest strength of our constitution was being flexible and only now it's being turn against the people.

If you are referring to Donald Trump and January 6th, he was not part of the crowd at the Capitol, has not been charged with anything (as hundreds of others have), and whether that was an insurrection has been debated many times.
