Do you believe the native Americans prophecies about white people?

if you've done any amount of reading on Europe's first contact with the native Americans you have likely come across a prophecy that "white people from beyond the sun would come and bring about total destruction."

This question is so vague, but if you're talking about colonialism, then obviously they were correct. I'm not sure who first came up with this prophecy, but it honestly isn't that strange, considering there was already warfare between enemy tribes. And it's been proven that Vikings made contact with Native Americans, and it is speculated that some Welshmen, most likely did as well. So if the prophecies came AFTER, then Native Americans already knew about the existence of White people. There were some Native women that were taken back to Iceland. Either somehow word got to them and then back to the mainland, or some Natives simply speculated that if other Natives attacked them White people from "beyond the sun" were bound to do it eventually too. So it's not so unusual honestly

We had a lot of prophecies and a lot came true, some more literally than others. That said, this sounds like a European retcon rather than one of our own.

it came from MANY sources all across the continent. many different unbiased sources. it definitely sounds made up, maybe the elders made it up to explain why they shouldn't fight them to the youth. or it could've resulted from the first expeditions to america made by the Vikings.
