Is it true that if we didn’t have spiders, we’d be living knee deep in insects?

True, spiders catch a lot of flying bugs. They are good to have in gardens and wild places. Even the long-legged cellar spiders that build messy webs in houses help catch flies and mosquitos.
Spiders mean us no harm and are often rather docile, but I admit that they can be a bit creepy.
Spiders are good. The only ones to beware of are venomous ones like black widows and brown recluse.

There are also spiders who don't build webs and ambush their prey. They eat beetles and other things that are harmful to plants.
We will occasionally get a big, wolf spider in our house. They look creepy and scary but aren't dangerous. i catch them and put them back in the garden.

Not really, there are many other animals that eat insects, from frogs to birds, to bats to other insects... but it would be a noticable difference.
