Dragons are an early myth of mankind that appears to have arisen before we left Africa. Australian Aborgines have a dragon rainbow serpent, so that is 80,000 years of mythology. Not all dragons were bad to the bone. Some Chinese dragons brought water to benefit the people who were in lack.

In the Bible, firey serpents are sent to punish the Israelites and just need wings to be a more classic Western dragon. Myths transmogrify and elements are added. It seems dragons initially stole heifers but the word for heifer and young girl was similar and dragons soon became fixated on young white blonde haired maidens.

For most of this Peterson and Dawkins were across purposes but I think Peterson's points were the most interesting on courage.

Yeah, it was confused and the two people in the room with him were highly confused as to what he was saying most certainly. I think he was in his own mind too much at the moment, and was more trying to say (VERY BADLY!) that a dragon was as valid as a lion for a predator image/meme/trope.

To me it was as if he had some ideas at the moment that were so exciting to him he started expounding before he had thought them out. In the version on his website, he pulls his threads together in the final minutes.

For myself I don't mind people having ideas and thinking them out on the fly. So I react differently is all.

I would disagree strenuously with Peterson because not all dragons are bad. The Rainbow Serpent is a creator and life giver. Chinese dragons are life givers. So he was being very western centric.
