Trump had done more to fix the border even before he was inaugurated than Biden did the whole time he was in office. Its a good start but the real work starts Jan 20th. The rest of the world is on notice. They will gladly take back their people who have entered the United States illegally and anybody who thought that would come to the US for a free ride will think again.
Actually, Biden constructed more of Trump’s wall than Trump ever did. Thank you Keynesian economics infrastructure spending
@RedInnocent69 Biden left the last 20 miles of wall to rust on the ground and sold it for scrap even though taxpayers already paid for it. , President Trump got over 400 miles of wall built.
Uh huh... M'kay
Trump is always lying. In this case, after he said that, the president of Mexico stated,
"In our conversation with President Trump, I explained to him the comprehensive strategy that Mexico has followed to address the migration phenomenon, respecting human rights,” she said on X. “We reiterate that Mexico’s position is not to close borders but instead build bridges between government and people.” That is the exact opposite of what the lying Trump said.
It is not a complicated problem to get Mexico to do what every nation is expected to be doing to not be committing act of war against their neighbor.
But Mexico will still fail and we will still need to deport and build a wall to control the border.
Actually, it is, considering parts of the border are rivers and Indian reservations
Isn't Mexico part of North America? If so, why a border to keep them out? (Ever hear of NAFTA?)
@RedInnocent69 Indian reservations are easier to deal with than states. the feds not only own their land they can easy enough wall off the reservation too.
Rivers borders thou more difficult in many ways requiring more resources are still secure-able with different kinds of walls including actual walls just beyond the river itself.
@oddbeme Mexico would lose a trade war with the US although not as badly as Canada. Regardless it is far more advantageous to Mexico to cooperate. Not only does this weaken the drug cartels threatening their country, The U. S. Will basically pay for their efforts via our existing aid programs.
@beefcakebradybatson
Free trade of goods is not free trade of labor, also the problem isn't just Mexico but every other country that is using Mexico, with passive Mexican support.
Unlike many of theses countries, Mexico takes their deportees back, is more reliable on extraditions and at some level is willing to at least attempt to fight the drug cartels.
The U. S. & Canada might be open to a common labor market if Mexico ever secures their own border and deals with the cartels.
@oddbeme
To the contrary I actually grew up surrounded by Indian Reservations, have seen many incidents, and crossed on to the land almost every day.
This is how I know how easily the federal goverment can push them around, as well as why the reservation system is soo harmfully to the economic and political future to the Native Americans who spend the last few hundred years increasingly not living on them.
Similar to the European Union before the stupid Tories pushed the U. K. into accepting Brexit at the cost of Britain's now-shattered economy.
@beefcakebradybatson Only if by similar you mean America doesn't have a open labor market with Mexico and Canada to avoid precisely the problem which drove the UK out of the EU in the first place.
As for the U. K. current economic issues this is a reflection of their failure to secure free trade agreements with the rest of the world.
Party because the EU would not let them prepare the ground to hurt them intentionally, Mostly because their Government has been draping its feet for the same reason.
Obviously we have to see how things actually unfold, but yeah, it's certainly a simpler problem than the Dems were making it out to be. It turns out that having someone with balls in charge changes how other nations treat you.
Then why did Trump ask Republicans not to when they agreed with Democrats what to do?
@RedInnocent69 Because it was too weak to actually address the problems at the border. thehill.com/.../
Ok, so only Trump, in his infinite wisdom, knows how to do anything. Got it!
@RedInnocent69 The only person who said anything like that is you. It's not a question of wisdom. What I'm saying is that the Democrats had no intention of solving the problem.
Because Democrats don’t like winning, or because they don’t like America? 🤔😂
Oops maybe not
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIq6T8sdB_k
@RedInnocent69 I have no idea why. The reasons don't particularly matter. All I know is that the border could have been addressed a long time before the Democrats even began to try to.
@ProbablyClueless Republicans were the majority of who wrote the border bill that Biden signed which happened to be bipartisan. Border agents agreed it would help and was a good start. He stopped progress because he needed a border crisis to run on and he admitted he didn't want Biden getting credit. Why don't you know this. He literally took credit for this
@Friendlybro79 I do know all of those things. It's just that I also know that Trump had lots to run on beyond just the border.
@ProbablyClueless what were those things and how did he say he was going to accomplish them? The tarrifs he is proposing is by all economic experts going to cause higher prices for consumers in turn higher inflation. I'm so confused on what people think he's going to do that will help avg Americans. He did talk about tax cuts for the rich again. I appreciate the civil conversation. I'm def not sure how to converse with Trump supporters half the time because when I show stats, documentation, or results, I'm usually countered with I'm a socialist that hates America and they can't say how or why I am those things.
@Friendlybro79 Of course! I'm always happy to have a civilized conversation. I wish more people were game for it. I'll respond to your questions later today, but this has been a busy weekend. I just wanted to let you know that I'm not blowing you off.
No rush it's not like we're on the clock here lol. I am trying to be better at not getting fiesty in these discussions. Some people make it easier than others. I took my chill pill today so I'm ok haha.
@ProbablyClueless you obviously haven't remotely studied how much goods we ship across the mex border.
They do a lot of the labor, it's get shipped up here for processing and then back to Latin America to sell. Lol
@OddBeMe Two genuine questions:
1. How much insight/experience do you have with international supply chains?
and
2. What sort of thinker do you consider yourself? As in, would you say you're a big picture, multi-step sort of guy, or are you more of a detail-oriented, one step at a time kind of guy?
I'm not denying the fluidity of a global supply chain, but I am saying that a tariff even if it's actually imposed, isn't going to have some profound, Earth-shaking impact on the prices of goods. The threatened tariffs simply don't have that kind of weight. And especially not on a multinational corporation with an properly integrated supply chain like the ones that have moved their labor to Mexico.
I'll wait and see... Trump does seem to be acting president already even though he doesn't have any power until... Jan 20th I think.
this seems like bullshit news. the border crisis isn't even about "migration". it's about illegal aliens. nobody ever said they are against legal migration.
Did Trump station fugly folk at every border checkpoint to sicken any potential entrants to America?
i didn't think you were on shift tonight? well, we do our best at our age. it's not our responsibility to watch over retarded americans. we have to keep the other retards out too
@Sevenpointfive How 'bout us handsome older black Canadian lads?
you never know who's going to get in. not a lot of talk about black crime these days
@Sevenpointfive Which was always SERIOUSLY overhyped by racists.
i don't think the racism is the part that concerns me. what does is gentrification and gerrymandering. no one should be able to kick you off of your property or draw their party lines around them. and i don't think being poor or rich has anything to do with racism. a lot of people that you wouldn't think are racist are very racist; but i know a bunch of snowflakes as well.
we have a lot of work to do on this country. politicians have destroyed this country!
@Sevenpointfive You're white, Sevenpointfive;racism wouldn't affect you as it would me and other POC.
unfortunately, I'm not white. i am grouped with white people but not seen as an equal. it very much affects me.
Saying a country agreed to do something doesn't mean that the job is done by man.
man how low IQ can you get? if trump said that, he obviously meant Mexico will work on stopping illegal migration through their own country. is that so hard to believe, that trump would try to get mexico to enforce their own laws?
It was better under his last administration, and we just want Mexico to do the same thing they did ~5 years ago. I think we'll be alright.
Nothing is solved, since there is NO border crisis.
Well that's good news! :)
In his little reality maybe.
It seems like you have a Trump obsession.
I am going to enjoy the next four years...
Already winning and not even in office.
I guess masturbation is winning now
@RedInnocent69 sorry you couldn’t find a woman.
