I love how all these goofs just think Trump is some mob boss who just walks into a room and gets all his demands met. Nobody takes this guy seriously, beyond that he can fuck shit up by doing dumb things you normally wouldn’t have to worry about with a decent and competent president. If this guy was the President of Antigua or some place we just don’t think about and doesn’t hold any global sway, he’d be a laughingstock. But he comes armed with an already-powerful country behind him, and THAT, not his own competence, is why anyone even deals with this guy. Her get laughed out of any room he walked into if America wasn’t what it already is and has been for a long time.

Six months from now they’ll be blaming Joe Biden because guacamole is $10 extra at Chipotle because this idiot just thinks “hmmm…broadly assigned tariffs will fix everything, even though this isn’t what tariffs are meant to do”, and avocado prices are through the roof, not because we levied a carefully-thought-out tariff on avocados to spur our own domestic avocado production/sourcing, but to hurt a country economically to force them into doing what we want, even though there’s no real reason to be blaming that country in the first place.

But they campaigned on the idea that Mexico is to blame for all of America’s troubles, because Americans are really fucking dumb and respond really well to grievance politics because we love hearing that our shortcomings are someone else’s fault and we’re just temporarily-embarrassed millionaires because of it, and there seems to be this mood-shift I’m observing where some people are like “oh, Trump won? I guess that means all the blatantly obvious lies are TRUE then!”
