No. They have always been intolerant of one specific thing, the fact that more and more people adopt that specific thing does not make left wing people more intolerant. It is not them that has changed, its the people who suddenly thought we should have another go at fascism since it worked out so great the first X number of times we have tried it.

You miss the point entirely. Do you see liberals in Europe severing ties with friends and family because they didn't vote "correctly"? Of course not.

My point was not about how liberal the left is in the US. It was about how intolerant they are of anyone who doesn't vote the way they do.

... There aren't liberals in Europe. Liberalism is an American thing. And of course they would cut connection to family and friends if they deviated too much such as what happened when British people voted for Brexit. Its just that Europe is not nearly as ideologically extreme as USA is. You will not really find the right wing beliefs in Europe that you currently see in America.

They are intolerant of anyone whose views are different than their own. Look at the liberals disowning friends and family who didn't vote the way they thought they should. Look at the FEMA employee who told workers not to help people with Trump signs in their yards. Ever watch the View? Ever spend any time on the MSNBC website. All these people are openly and bitterly hateful of others with different political views.

Here's a book you should read. You won't though, because cognitive dissonance is too uncomfortable for most people.

There is some shrill ideology on the right that I don't agree with -- mostly simplistic slogans about economics and taxation. But what are we intolerant of? People who are intolerant of people different from themselves -- not white, Christian, heterosexual males. What are we hearing from the right?
