I went to the elementary school he had previously attended. He was kicked out for punching a teacher.

I once knew this guy Freddie. Fred ended up growing up and having a baby with his wife. The baby had cerebral palsy. He got his insurance from the family business. When his dad died, his uncle stole his inheritance. Fred sued his uncle, and in response his uncle cut off the medical insurance that his grand nephew desperately needed. He cut off medical insurance for a sick baby. The uncle was Donald J. Trump.

I knew people in the construction industry. I met architects, steel workers, and builders of every kind. They all knew this one business that screwed them over every chance it had. It short-changed them. It broke contracts, and had a team of lawyers ready to counter-sue anyone who tried to collect their money. No one in the construction business ever worked with that company again. Whose name was on the stationery? Trump.

I went to a post-production studio for a while. I worked with very talented editors, producers, and broadcast techs. Every person, to a man, said they only had this job for a while until they could find something else. The conditions they worked in were appalling. There were quarter-million dollar editing workstations on sawhorses and plywood... That studio is at the top of a certain notorious pink and gold escalator at 725 Fifth Avenue. The show they were working on was Apprentice.

I have been one-degree of separation away from this man for a LONG time. I know him pretty well.

The media is not making him look nearly as bad as he really is.

Addition: Mind you guys this is before he ever campaigned for president. These anecdotes and descriptions precede even the birther movement. The media doesn’t project him badly enough.

For those who don't know, Quora is a question and answer website, very popular, on the web. People give their points of view on different questions. For this question, I had to leave some details out in a paragraph because my details were "too long" for GAG. For your information, I know one person who met Trump in person. She was hard of hearing, living in PA, and after meeting him in 2015, said he was "not a good man and not a good candidate for president".

I think they are pretty tough in him but It wouldn't matter if the media was tougher on him. That fuels his fanatics and somehow serves as evidence to them that he is the opposite. He has convinced them if it comes from the left it 100% can't be trusted. It's easy for them to not have to think and just trust a felon.

Most sane people will be able to be critical of the party the affiliate with as well as their candidates but not extreme Trumpers. They can't admit he could even accidentally do wrong.

The media is confused with Donald Trump. He is a businessman, not a politician, and the media doesn't know how to deal with a non-politician. For decades, the President, whoever he is, has been a politician that follows a certain way of doing things, and the media has gotten used to that. Donald Trump is different, and the media hasn't yet figured out how to deal with that. Plus, the media struggles to deal with today's world, where social media is the way most people get their information.

@Amy10223 Since you mentioned national debt, let's compare Trump's 4 years vs Biden's first 3 years (4th year numbers aren't out yet) for how they affected the national debt):

Trump: +$8.4 trillion, of which: $1.9 trillion was partisan and $6.3 trillion was bipartisan
Biden: +$4.3 trillion, of which: $3.0 trillion was partisan and $1.3 trillion was bipartisan

Yes, Trump added more to the deficit, because both Democrats and Republican' supported it, while Biden's increase was mostly supported by Democrats only.

And if you look at history, Trump ranks 8th on the Presidential list ordered by percentage increase in national deb, at 33.1% increase. Reagan, both Bushes and Nixon rank above him. Biden is 12th, at 16.7%, with one year yet to be accounted for. Obama ranks 5th at 64.4% increase; no one complains about what he did to the national debt..
