Why does evolution breed incompetent people?

Nope, evolution wants to diversify as much as possible when it can (such as us being the dominant species on the planet) which means that if something were to happen, like a pandemic, then some of us will randomly have the correct mutations to survive even if before that point those mutations were worthless or even harmful.

The more successful a species are the more "Unoptimized" they become as opposed to the closer to extinction someone becomes the more hyper focused they become to try get a breakthrough before they die off completely.

It is the best survival tactics for an automated system without much oversight. If you want a demonstration as to why this diversification is important then you can look at bananas. Us humans have been cultivating and trying to breed the "perfect banana" for generations. We have gotten quite good at it and perfected a few breeds but because they are "perfect" they are also essentially identical. That means that if one of them is vulnerable to a disease then all of them are and if one of them die from the disease then all of them would if they got infected. On a side-note, several banana species are on the brink of dying out because we can't stop the spread of particular diseases such as the grand michel banana and cavendish Bananas.

Humanity has moved itself outside of natural selection and evolution. In the past even skmeone with short eyesight would have had trouble propagating their genes.
